Step-by-Step Guide for Node B Commissioning-

This document is for Integration of Ericsson NodeB.

Following things are required to Integrate NodeB

1. EMLY Cable
2. Straight Cable
3. FTP Software ( Win Commander, Total Commander, etc. )
4. BPFTP Client
5. RBS Element Manager
6. External hardware file (.XML format)
7. O&M Access File (.XML format )
8. IUB_EN file
9. License of NodeB
10. C and D drive Dump

If the connection fails through the Node B IP and Basic IP (169.254.1.1), then the NodeB can be
connected through EMLY Cable.

Connect the one end of EMLY Cable to TEST Port of CBU and other (usually female Serial Connector) to
COM Port 1 of your Laptop.

Go to Hyper Terminal of your Laptop and make new connection

Enter the name of Connection (3G in our case) and the select Connect using COM1. Click OK

In COM1 Properties, select Restore Defaults and Select OK.

The Hyper Terminal window will prompt for User name and Password.

username: rbs

password: rbs

Welcome to OSE Shell OSE4.6.1.

Enter this Command

Ifconfig

$ ifconfig

interface: le0

ip-address: 10.128.163.185

subnetmask: 255.255.255.248

broadcast: 10.128.163.191

This will show the IP through which the NodeB can be accessed. ( 10.128.163.185 in our case)

If the Node has gone to initial configuration it will show Basic IP ( 169.254.1.1 )

If it does not show any IP then the IP has to be configured either by reconfiguring the node or setting IP
manually.

In order to verify whether the node is to be reconfigured or not check its volumes ( VOLS )
$ vols

volume total used free frw device unit

/ 0K 0K 100% 0K 100% FR-

/null 0K 0K 100% 0K 100% FRW

/d 292M 82M 28% 210M 72% FRW idedd 0 <4-599999>

/zip 1K 1K 100% 0K 0% -RW none

/gzip 0K 0K 100% 0K 100% FRW protocol=gzip

/c 706M 263M 37% 442M 63% FRW mirrordd 0 <600000-2046239>

/j 706M 263M 37% 442M 63% FRW /c 0 <600000-2046239>

Since above printout is showing Used Space in “/d” and “/c” drive.

If either of the drive C or D shows 100% free space then the node is to be reconfigured.

CONFIGURING THE NODE

Connect through Hyper Terminal

Check the Volume

VOLS

Format C and D Drive

formathd /d

formathd /c2 ( if /c is used instead of /c2 then use “format /c” )

Reload the Node

reload --

Configure basic IP

ifconfig le0 169.254.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0

ifconfig

Now the node can be accessed from basic IP ( 169.254.1.1 )

Enter the IP of Laptop as:- 169.254.1.2
Subnet Mask:- 255.255.0.0

Open FTP software

Connect to 169.254.1.1

Username:- rbs

Password:- rbs

Note:- C and D drive dump is required and the same is to be transferred to node. Remember the dump
that is used should have P5 and P6 configuration Versions ( CV_P5 and CV_P6 ).

The Dumps of Indoor, Outdoor and RRF NodeBs differ. If Indoor NodeB is to be configured then the
dump of indoor NodeB should be used.

Copy contents of C and D dump to the C and D drive of the node (169.254.1.1)

Once the whole data is transferred, reload the node.

Reload

Wait for 5-10 minutes till the name becomes normal.

Connect to Hyper Terminal and use the following commands

Vols

Ifconfig

The node will have the new IP now, that IP can be checked from ifconfig command

$ ifconfig

interface: le0

ip-address: 10.128.163.185

subnetmask: 255.255.255.248

broadcast: 10.128.163.191

Now login to the node through the RBS Element Manager (10.128.163.185)

( Use the IP of your Laptop as 10.128.163.186, subnet=255.255.255.248 gateway=10.128.163.185 )

In Software-> Configuration Versions, reload with CV_P6.

The node will restart again and will go to its initial CV.

Check the IP of the Node via Hyper Terminal.

Use Command ( ifconfig )

The Node Should be on its basic IP (169.254.1.1)

Now the node can be accessed from basic IP ( 169.254.1.1 )

Enter the IP of Laptop as:- 169.254.1.2
Subnet Mask:- 255.255.0.0

Login through RBS Element Manager ( 164.254.1.1)

Click on Configuration from top menu and click on Site Equipment.

Site Equipment Wizard will start.

Click Next
The Window will prompt for Configuration file
Select (Tick) Use configuration file
Give the path of External hardware file (.XML format) and select next.
Keep on Clicking next on all windows till the Configuration is completed successfully.
Click Finish

Create the CV as External Hardware and set as startable.

Click on Configuration from top menu and click on OAM Access.
Upload the O&M Access File (.XML format ) and follow the same steps as in Site Equipment
Configuration Wizard.

This Wizard will set new IP to the node and node will restart

Login to node via hyper terminal and check its new IP ( use command “ifconfig” )

Welcome to OSE Shell OSE4.6.1.

$ ifconfig

interface: le0

ip-address: 10.128.149.188

subnetmask: 255.255.255.248

broadcast: 10.128.163.191

Login to node via RBS element manager through that ip ( 10.128.149.188 )

Now we have to load IUB_EN script to the node.

Click on Configuration->Run Command file.

In command file executer click Browse

Select that file ( IUB_EN ) and click start.

Now again create the CV and name it as CV_IUB.

LOADING LICENSE ON NODE

Login to BPFTP

Click on Setup and select User Accounts.

Click on path as shown in picture Select directory Window will come

Select the folder which contains the License of the node.

Tick All the parameters from R.H.S of the window and click on Select
Give Login as:- rbs

Password as :- rbs

And select =All IP Homes=

And click OK

Click on server and select GO ONLINE

Open RBS Element Manager

Go to Configuration Licensing

And select Update License Key

Give User ID= rbs

Password= rbs

IP Address= IP of Laptop

License File= ./name of file.xml

(e.g:- ./TY12290050_110303_145814.xml )

Select OK.

Check at RNC whether all the cells are enabled.

Take CV backup and set as startable.
