Name: Nevalga, Mark Kenneth L. Section: 2ECE-A

Instructions: Solve the following problems. Write your solution after each of the given problem. Enclose in a
box your final answer.

1. Palindromic Numbers. A palindromic number is a whole number that remains unchanged when its
digits are written in reverse order. Find all palindromic numbers that have exactly three digits and are
the square of a natural number. (20 pts.)

PALINDROMIC NUMBER- is a whole number that remains unchanged when its digit
are written in reverse order.

Palindromic number/s that have

 Exactly 3 digits and are the square of a natural umber are 11 and 22.
 Four digits and are the cube of a natural number is 11.

2. Determine the units digit (ones digit) of the counting number represented by the exponential
expression. (20 pts.)

3. A Cryptarithm. The following puzzle is a famous cryptarithm. (25 pts.)

S E N D
+MO R E
M O N E Y

Each letter in the cryptarithm represents one of the digits 0 through 9 The leading digits,
represented by S and M, are not zero. Determine which digit is represented by each of the letters so
that the addition is correct. Note: A letter that is used more than once, such as M, represents the same
digit in each position in which it appears.

4. Considering the following simple statement (10 pts)

p: Today is Monday
q : It is raining
r : I am going to a movie
s : I am not going to the basketball game.

Use p, q, r, and s to write the following statement in symbolic form.

a. Today is not Monday and I am going to a movie.

b. I am going to the basketball game and I am not going to a movie.
