A DAY IN DISGUISE 

 
 
Masquerade Mask for All Ages Instructional Material 

Use this guide to create your Do-It-Your-Own Masquerade Mask. This includes
printable mask templates.

NOTE: Ask help from your parents or guardian while doing this activity.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

● A4 or Letter size cardstock 


● Poster paint or crayons 
● Scissors 
● White glue 
● Paint brush 
● Disposable chopsticks/ BBQ sticks 
● Feathers 
● Glitter glue 
● Glue gun (optional) 
● Decorative materials: sequins, rhinestones, ribbons, crepe paper strips, puffy 
paint, aluminum foil, etc. 

STEPS:

1. Print out the mask template. 


Choose from any of the attached templates in PDF. Print out your chosen mask on 
A4 or letter size cardstock.

2. Modify the mask shape. 

As an option, you can modify the shape of the mask before cutting it out. Draw an 
outline of your ideal mask shape.

3. Cut out the mask. 


Cut out the mask, including the eye holes.

4. Draw lines on the mask. 
If  you  plan  to make a two-toned or multi-colored mask, it is helpful to lightly draw the 
lines on your mask. 

 
5. Color the mask. 
Color the mask with crayons or colored markers. You can also paint it with poster 
paint. 

SAMPLE ONLY. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN DESIGN.

6. Decorate the mask. 
Once the paint dries, decorate the mask with sequins, rhinestones, feathers, puffy 
paint, glitter glue and other notions. Make your mask as fabulous as you like. 

7. Prepare the handle. 


Find a long handle for your mask like a BBQ stick or a wooden chopstick. Paint the 
handle or wrap it in fabric ribbon, if you like.

8. Glue the handle. 
Glue the handle at the back of the mask. You can either glue it in the middle or on   

the side. 

9. Add accents. 
Complete your mask by gluing some feathers, curly ribbons, crepe paper strips, pipe 
cleaner and other materials to accent the handle or sides of your mask.

mask. This is open to ALL Montereinians, To participate, submit an online entry 
form with photo attachment by Thursday, February 11, 2021.
