LESSON AIMS:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :

1. identify and underline Past Simple and Past Continuous verbs;


2. develop communication skills;
3. ask and answer questions about a specific theme using Past Simple
and Past Continuous ;
4. use Past Simple and Past Continuous in real instances of
communication
OBJECTIVES:
 to check and improve vocabulary;
 to encourage students to talk freely;
 to help students use correctly Past Simple and Past Continuous;
 to give students more practice on pronunciation, vocabulary and
the structures previously taught;
 making students confident in their ability to use the language;
 creating interest in the topic of the lesson;
 stimulating students’ imagination and creativity;
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:
 methods and procedures: explanation, dialogues, conversation, group work,
independent work, elicitation, game, brainstorming;

 materials and equipment: pictures, flashcards, worksheets, textbook,


smartphone;

 organization: individual work, group work;

ASSUMPTIONS: I assume that most of the vocabulary and structures to be


revised are already known by my students.

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Some students might need further help and extra
indications in solving the tasks and they may also need some of these indications to
be given in Romanian.

verb in the past tense .

 to be able to make sentences using past simple and past continuous;

- Then she asks Ss to remember the use of the
Simple Past
Use: we use the Simple Past to talk about
completed actions in the past.
T uses the written sentences as an example for the

T asks the Ss : Can you identify the tense in the
examples?
The Ss recognize the Past Continuous tense.
What do we use it for?
Use: we use the Past Continuous tense to talk
about actions which were in progress at a
particular moment in the past.
The actions can be:
interrupted – when …
Happening at the same time – while…or as
I…….., After that T. asks Ss to solve exercise 4,
page 44. Ss have to put the verbs in brackets into
the past simple.
