Chapter 2 Exercises (With Answers)

This document provides examples to help students learn about elementary statistics concepts. It covers determining the level of measurement for different variables, identifying appropriate data collection methods, sampling techniques, and choosing the best type of graph or chart depending on the scenario. The examples address nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio levels of measurement; survey, experiment and observation data collection; simple random, cluster, quota, systematic and stratified sampling; and line charts, column charts, pie charts, bar charts and statistical maps.

from a list of all those who purchased the products endorsed by that group by picking 100
numbers from that list and each number is assigned to a certain fan. (Simple Random
Sampling)
2. Manny, a farmer, divides his mango tree farm into 10 regions. He selects 3 regions using a
randomization mechanism and all the mango trees in the selected regions are now part of his
sample. (Cluster Sampling)
3. Ryujin selected a sample of 10 students for every college in UP Diliman by first going to that
college and interviewing whoever she meets and whoever is willing to be interviewed. She then
proceeds to the next college after reaching a total of 10 respondents from the previous college.
(Quota Sampling)
