Seismic Co-Efficient Calculation As Per NBCC - Equivalent Static Force Procedure For Structures Satisfying The Conditions of Article

This document outlines the steps to calculate the seismic coefficient for a structure as per the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) 2010 provisions. It involves determining the fundamental lateral period (Ta) of the structure based on its height, selecting the appropriate design spectral acceleration (Sa) values from acceleration response spectra for the site class and calculating the equivalent static lateral force (V) and associated seismic moments and anchor forces. The example provided is for a skid structure with a height of 1.7m located on site class C soil, with the calculated seismic coefficient (V) equal to 0.42.
