Document Position Paper

The position paper argues that face-to-face classes should be suspended until a COVID-19 vaccine is available to ensure student and public safety. It notes that while education is important, life is more important, and resuming in-person classes could lead to increased virus transmission and loss of life. The paper also acknowledges the challenges of continuing education through online and modular learning but emphasizes that this is necessary to protect health. It concludes by supporting the Philippine president's decision to prohibit face-to-face instruction until a vaccine is developed and widely distributed.

“No vaccine, no face to face class”

“Life that lost is lost forever, Education can be delayed, can be recovered” President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte. No vaccine no face to face classes is a controversy statement stated by President Duterte. As
we face the crisis, so called covicovid-19. To secure the safeness if students, teachers and the humanity.
President stance that there will be no face to face classes until covid19 vaccines becomes available.
Covid-19 affect in different aspects and filled in our lives. Someone’s losing livelihood, career, small
businesses and etc. All of us are affected millions of people died, losing hopes to survive in life. Economy
has been affected as well as education. Education is a powerful solution to minimize the numbers of
family suffering poverty and hunger. A solution of poverty, but this solution has been affected by covid-
19. Face to face Classes has been suspended. To secure that safety of everybody. It was really not easy
to have a crisis in our country and covid-19 is still out there.

People are affected on the said crisis, this pandemic affected on the said crisis, this pandemic affects the
people in their everyday lives and that includes the student and education. Covid-19, a pandemic that
still leaves a big impact to our country. A crisis affecting the people I their everyday lives, affecting the
people in negative way and that includes most especially to the students. Student’s are having online
classes because of the said pandemic. It was being said that face to face classes will resume but as the
vaccine of covid-19 is still not available.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has said he will not allow students to go back to school until a
coronavirus vaccine is available, even as some countries resume in-person classes. Without a vaccine,
sending children to school “spells disaster”, Duterte said during a televised address late on Monday. “I
will not allow the opening of classes where students will be near each other,” he added. “Unless I am
sure that they are really safe, it’s useless to be talking about opening of classes. Children were due to
return to school at the end of August after classes for more than 25 million primary and secondary
students were shut down in March as the contagion took a firm hold in the Philippines. But Duterte said
the risk was too great, even if it held students back academically. “For me, vaccine first. If the vaccine is
already there, then it’s okay,” he added. “If no one graduates, then so be it.” There is currently no
vaccine available and no known treatment to cure COVID-19, the highly infectious respiratory disease
caused by the new coronavirus. Though researchers across the world have launched an unprecedented
effort to quickly develop a vaccine, it is not clear when a viable candidate will be proven and distributed
on a large scale. “The coronavirus has not disappeared despite social distancing and it will continue to
spread until there is a vaccine,” infectious diseases expert Amesh Adalja of the Johns Hopkins University
Center for Health Security told Al Jazeera. “We will have a second and even third wave if there is no
vaccine,” he said. “We do know that coronavirus is, in general, accelerate their spread in the fall and
winter as environmental conditions favor their transmission.”(CNN Philippines)

Since we have this different perspective on how we interpret the said issue, the issue still portraying the
safeness of the students, teachers and the humanity. Governments find a ways to solve this problem as
soon as they can. Provides security and the said vaccine. Face to face classes should be suspended as of
now because there’s no such assurance too secure our safety. Because in this days health and safety of
our students, staff and people is the first priority. And it should be, but education must be continued
thru alternative learning opportunities, technology platforms, and modality. As we go thru and fights
against covid-19. Department of Education in Philippines finds ways to continue education in the
country. Thru online and modular learning modality. As face to face classes has been suspended.
Learning plans are being developed, tailored to the vital and unique way and needs of individual
community and incorporate a variety if ways to provide quality learning opportunities, including family
and community especially those who don’t have access in Internet connection. Learning and health
should always be partners.

Face to face classes must be prohibited. Student’s must strictly go to school to secure their safety. Thus
we should inculcate in our minds to think about our actions and redirecting our steps for better. We
should be part if the solution not a problem. Learning and health will always be partners, why? Even
face to face classes are suspended the learning continues. It will be challenging to all of us fir teacher’s,
parents and students but by taking the step now, we are protecting the future.

“I’m calling back the order and I will not allow face to face classes for the children until we are thru with
this,” Duterte said televised briefing on Saturday, December 26. To govern a whole nation by one
person is one of the hardest position to stand with. Suspension of face to face classes is one thing that
can help to reduce the numbers of covid-19 patients in the country. This statement is one resolution to
resolve this crisis, securing ones health is a great thing to save ones life. Why because there are many
students in the country who are minors and prone to this virus covid-19. Face to face classes suspension
has a lot of good things to offer. First is, we are secured by the said virus. We are far from danger. In the
sphere of education many countries adopted in response of face to face classes at all levels . The main
goal of president Duterte is to secure the health of every students and the overall will- being.

Power and responsibility must ignite, for better with core values and discipline. Our helping hands will
guide us to conquer this struggles into triumph and live back the life we all always wanted. Where
positivity is everywhere. We should Respect and follow the health protocol provides by the government
thru the dedicated and strong front liners who volunteer to save lives and serve people from the crisis.
Remember there is no rainbow without a rain. Thru our power and responsibility we can surpassed this
horrible crisis. By faith, with unity and harmonious relationship fir the common good towards individual.
