This Scope describes the company system for execution of all instrument
works and applies to the inspection, calibration and testing, installation and
pre-commissioning of the following instruments for all company’s contracts.

 Level Switches, transmitter and indicators


 Flow Switches and elements.
 Orifice plates.
 Flow transmitter and totalizer indicating switch
 Pressure gauges
 Safety relief valves
 Control relays
 Pressure indicator
 Temperature instruments
 MOV

2.0 Personnel Rules And Responsibilities

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for the installation of all instrumentation


in accordance with the instrument specifications and procedures approved drawings
standards and vendor’s recommendation.

QA/QC Instrumentation Inspector shall be responsible for the implementation


of this QC Plan and Program. He will coordinate closely with instrument
supervisor for compliance to the approved drawing, standard drawing,
specifications and vendor’s instruction and procedures.

3.0 Construction Procedure

 All instrument and accessories shall be stored in a dust free


controlled temperature room. It should be arranged in the provided
instrument rack to ensure proper handling.
 Unpacking Inspection
 All instruments/instrument panels shall be inspected by the
Contractor’s QA/QC Instrument Inspector and Client in accordance
with specifications and approved drawing during unpacking but not
limited to the following:
 Damage cause by impact, corrosion, vibration etc.
 Nameplate and Instrument Identification No.
 Accessories
 Quantity
 Enclosure suitability for the Area.
3.2 Calibration and Testing
 Bench calibration and test shall be performed at the site workshop
prior to installation after the following approvals.
o Submit resumes of the technician who will be performing
the tests for QA/QC approval.
o Site work shop shall be inspected and approved by QC
department.
o All test equipment shall be calibrated and certified by an
approved third party.
o Submit test procedures for all types of instruments for
client review.
 Instrument mounted on equipment shall be checked prior to
installation.
 Re-calibration of any instrument shall be carried out any time when
there is doubt to the accuracy of the instruments.
 Continuity test by low voltage tester, buzzer or telephone call shall
be used to confirm the proper designation and location of cables.
 Functional test and interlock test shall be carried out by simulated
signal to determine the actual operation of instrument /its interlock
and sequence control.

 Insulation Resistance Test shall be performed only for power supply


wiring after continuity test. Megger tester of rated voltage 500 V
shall be used for testing. Power and control cables shall be tested
@ 250 V DC.
 Switches action shall be verified. Switch contact make or break can
be checked by multi meter. Pressure switch can be checked and
calibrated by using dead weight tester or monometer using dry air or
nitrogen as source of pressure.
 Indicator and gauge shall be adjusted at zero point and checked the
span.
 Actuator shall be checked by multi meter and by providing
temporary power for proper action.
 Temperature/Pressure Controller and Transmitter shall be calibrated
against standards at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of span prior to
installation, for rising as well as falling. Precision standards
calibrator shall be use for checking.
 Impulse tubes and instrument air lines shall be pressure tested.
3.3 Notice of Inspection and Testing
 Client and ADVANCED VISION CO. shall witness all the inspection
and test notice of readiness for inspection testing shall be given to
client, 2 days in advance prior to the date of witness.
3.4 Installation
 All instruments shall be installed in accordance with AFC drawing
and specifications, standard procedures and vendor
recommendation.
 Instrument location does not interfere with function operation and
maintenance.
 Proper instrument will installed correctly in designated location as
per related drawing. Instrument shall bear TAG NUMBERS as
reference for proper location in the Control Panel.
 All instruments will be installed only if the location is secure, safe
and ready for installation.
 Mounting of instrument will be done according to vendor’s
procedure and recommendations and approved drawing.
 Grounding and instrument cables will be checked for proper
termination.
 Conduit is routed and supported avoiding severe vibration and in
accordance approved drawing.

 Sealing method shall be done as specified in approved drawing.


 Wiring is laid avoiding an adverse effect from power cables.
 All instruments shall be provided with temporary protection or cover
after installation.
 Proper alignment of conduit run is to be observed to avoid
obstruction to other electrical and mechanical installations.
 For conduits, cables, cable tagging, identifications, and seal fittings,
refer to Section Instrumentation QC Plan respectively.
 All wire shall be tagged and identified per the requirement of the
client.

3.5 Inspection After Installation

 Inspection shall be conducted after final installation in accordance


with approved drawings, specifications, CHECKLIST & ITPs, codes
and standards

3.6 Line-up for Pre-commissioning

 The instrument inspector shall fully communicate with the operation


representative and machinery inspector during pre-commissioning
of instruments.
 A series of operation such as mechanical running, airflow, etc., shall
be available prior to start pre-commissioning.
 Instrument shall be isolated and de-energized before mechanical
run, airflow start.
 Before making energize, zero adjustment shall be verified.
 Control circuit and power supply shall be checked and confirmed by
instrument inspector before making energize.
 Check instrument “Loops” for continuity, completeness and
identification, applying simulated signals when practical.
 All pre-commissioning activities shall be verified and documented.
Refer 9.2 for lists of client pre-commissioning forms.
 All test equipment shall be calibrated and certified by client
approved testing agency valid for six months only.

7.0 Storage and Handling


As was mentioned earlier, all materials stored on site are monitored by qualified
storekeepers that ensure they are in good conditions and safe from environmental

conditions that might endanger them ( e.g. moisture, heat, dust, friction ) . Materials
shall be stocked and stored in a safe confined space to prevent from deterioration
and damage, the delivered material shall be checked to conform to the project
specifications. as for the handling , workers are instructed to carefully treat all
equipment and material with care and engineers as well as foremen monitor the
material handling process for extra assurance.

8.0 Health and Safety

Health and Safety International Standards are always implemented on site


through our experienced health and safety officers and engineers so as to
prevent danger , hazards that might lead to serious injuries. Use of approved
PPE uniforms, tools and equipment by workers at site.

9.0 Environmental Requirements

All construction related works shall be executed to the highest levels of


quality While at the same time avoiding any operation that might
endanger the environment .therefore, materials are carefully chosen to be
as environment friendly as possible. Any hazardous material is carefully
stored as mentioned Earlier and scrap materials are carefully disposed off .
