At the same time, image contrast is enhanced through collimation which also prevents burn-out by direct radiation passing soft tissue. Tris collimator ‘Small field collimation results in higher detail definition as well as improved contrast inthe fluoroscopie image. Concentric collimation of the iris collimator (keys|® [®]) reduces the radiation dose to the physician and patient when small, low: contrast objects are examined with fluoroscopy. ‘The lower radiation dose is further ensured when using the automatie[@]V Hold key for eallimations measuring <10 em in diameter. The size of the dominant, whieh is automatically controlled, is a function of the image intensifier format. ‘The parameter menu lists four different dominant evaluations: 1. Mean value evaluation (TV Domin.: MW) (preferred evaluation) The mean value of the video signal is kept constant within the dominant. The mean value evaluation is a comprise between the extreme white and black level evaluations.2. Black level evaluation (TV Domin.: SS) ‘The regulator keeps the video signal constant in the darkest image sections. As a result, good detail definition is ensured in dark image sections of high-contrast objects. However, if collimation is insufficient, image quality may be degraded through direct radiation in the region of the extremities. 3. White level evaluation (TV Domin.: SW) ‘The video signal in the brightest image sections in the dominant is kept constant, While burn-out is prevented with high-contrast objects or direct radiation in the dominant range, detail definition in dark image sections may be degraded. 4. Disposal Federal regulations may contain specific guidelines regarding disposal of this product. Contact Siemens when permanently discarding this system in order to prevent possible injuries or environmental damage. 12-6Cleaning, Disinfecting, Sterilizing Disconnect the system prior to cleaning it. Cleaning the system Clean the system with a damp cloth or cotton pad. Dampen the cloth or pad with water or a lukewarm diluted com-mercially available liquid cleaning solution, Do not use a scouring powder, organie solvents (may damage materials), or solvent-based cleaning fluids (benzine, alcohol, spot remover) Do not spray the cleaning fluid directly on the system. The cleaning fluid may seep into the system. Cleaning monitors with anti-glare screens When cleaning anti-glare monitor sereens (recognizable by their non-reflective surface), only use pure alcohol or a mixture of 1/3 alcohol and 2/3 distilled water. Immediately after cleaning the screen, dry it with a soft cotton cloth, To avoid damaging the picture tube, do not use acids or alkaline solutions to clean the sereen. Desinfecting ‘To disinfect surfaces, we recommend liquid solutions of aldehyde-based or ampholytic surfactant-based disinfectant (e.g., Tego 103, Korsolin). Substituted phenol-based or chlorine-releasing disinfectants can weaken materials and are not recommended, The same restrictions apply to undiluted solutions with a high aleohol content (e.g., solution for for disinfecting hands). Disinfectant sprays should generally not be used; the spray may seep into the system which means that safety features can no longer be guaranteed (possible damage to electrical components, formation of flammable mixtures of air/solution vapor). Note: As is commonly known, the ingredients in disinfectants are hazardous to your health. Their concentration may not exceed the limits stipulated by legal regulations. We recommend that you follow manufacturer's instructions for the use of the product. Acceptable values are: 0,13 wGy/s (15 1R/s); 0,22 wGy/s (25 WR/s); 0,44 uGy/s (50 Ris). Due to the x-ray quantum noise, lower dose rates degrade image quality, Higher dose rates, on the other hand, improve image quality. However, radiation exposure increases if radiation ON time is not reduced. Deviations from the dose rate set ‘The fluoroscopic parameters (kV,mA) set are affected by the anatomy under examination. The dose rates present at the input of the image intensifier differ as a function of the L.I. gain which depends on the beam quality. When the density of the anatomy and the tube voltage (kV) are known, the deviation of the dose rate from the value set (factor 1) can be computed. ‘The correction factor for the dose rate at the LI. input in practical application (water phantom close to image intensifier) as compared to requirements for setting the dose rate (Cu filter close to source) is shown in the curve displayed below. The correlation kV to water thickness changes with the dose rate set and applies for 0.22 uGy/s (25 wRIs).
