experience satisfaction of the beauty of the design which is meant to be streamlined, modern, and

enchanting for all who look at it, and since the design is purely economical and unique, we can

see why. In addition, it was conducted to provide a safe and comfortable place to unwind with

family and friends. Most importantly, to establish a structure that could resist natural disasters

include earthquakes, floods, and extreme weather conditions such as hurricanes, lightning,

storms, and mass movements.

The methods used in this research was descriptive method where interviews, document

search and observation were utilized to gather data. The research was conducted at Purok 1,

Brgy. Gata, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, where the site is located and the respondents of the

study are all the members of Rolloque Family.

1.1 Background of the Study

Gata is a barangay in the municipality of San Agustin, in the province of Surigao del Sur.

It has a greater number of the population compared to its households. If we notice, as time goes

on, the number of populations increases. There are many instances where under one roof many

families live because of poverty as well. Every family’s dream is to live in a comfortable and a

nice home where they can relax their moods after a long day of work or school.

Mr. Rolloque desired a comfortable, attractive and unique house for his family that can

make them feel most safe during day and night whatever the weather condition is. A house that

serves as a shelter that protects the owners from the dangers of society.

Our team proposed a two-story contemporary house for the family where suited to their

desired house. Contemporary style home design integrates a wide number of style features. It

melds historic elements with current lifestyle concepts resulting in homes that are warm, inviting

and connected with the outdoors.

1.2 Objectives of The Study

The Purpose of this project is to provide a suitable and safe household building to provide
protection against all weather conditions for all the family members of Mr. Rufino Rolloque.
Because in this days, a safe home is one of the essentials in life. Based on the mentioned
objectives, the proposal is highly necessary to be constructed as it will improve their daily
routine efficiency.

1.3 Significance of the Study

This project aims to deliver safeguards and ease. Aside from that, it aims to satisfy the
desire of every family’s house. It is important to know their dream house. Lastly, having a 100m²
two-story residential building with luxurious design can attract viewers and serves as their
motivation to build their own house.

1.4 Target Beneficiaries/Clients

This research entitled “100m² Two-Story Contemporary house with modern design” will
be of great help to the following entities:

Family - Providing them with luxurious, unique physical designs, purely economical and durable
house design where they can relax, treated like kings and queens.

Relatives and Friends - Family gathering is like a tradition to us. Relatives and friends can
enjoy their visit with luxurious service and can feel comfortable and safe like it’s their home.

Visitors – Visitors can enjoy the view of the house and make them appreciate the whole design.

1.5 Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on the costs of the project, obstruction to the already built structures,

and the design quality. There are lot of things to be considered in designing a house. Most

importantly is the quality of design to withstand whatever calamities may happen. Therefore, it’s

not just focused on just the beauty of the house but also its foundation, strength, and durability.

Lastly, it also focused on the satisfaction of a family with the said design.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

When it comes to 21st-century living, there are many reasons to go with contemporary

house plans. We live in an era when space, energy and privacy are hard to come by, yet natural

light and outdoor connections are revered; modern house plans allow you to reap these benefits

while also making an efficient and environmentally friendly investment.

In the past, it was often difficult for contemporary house plans to be approved where

strict neighborhood covenants and restrictions were in place. Today, we find many more

neighborhoods embracing the contemporary home style, realizing that there are many benefits to

contemporary or modern house plans:

1. Spaciousness

Modern house plans do not utilize space haphazardly; rather, space is used as efficiently

as possible and complements the entire structure as a whole. This includes designing ceiling

space as well as hallways and corridors to maximize airflow and minimize transitional spaces.

Contemporary house plans generally seek a balance between space and overall home size.

Indeed, within modern homes, living space is never limited to indoor space but also extends to

the way a house is built into the surrounding environment. This means taking into account

nearby homes, nature and city zoning laws. A good contemporary home design will consider

space both in and around the house and the local environs.

2. Lots of Light

Contemporary home plans also give extra attention to natural light levels. This means

including not only large windows facing the south side of the house, but also smaller windows

on multiple sides of a room to bring in a natural light level that provides enough light to see by

without compromising privacy or brightness levels. Modern home plans that maximize natural

light levels can cut down on energy costs during the summer months by allowing you to turn on

fewer lights.

3. Aesthetically Pleasing Design

Modern house plans that really shine are those that maintain a balance between design,

structural efficiency and overall aesthetic value. Contemporary home plans feature large, bold

exterior massing elements; simple shallow sloped shed or flat rooflines; mixtures of natural

wood, stone, metal and glass elements; and sharp, clean lines. A goal of contemporary home

design is to integrate aesthetically pleasing aspects into the overall design plan while minimizing

unnecessary structural add-ons. Remember: You will be living in – and looking at – your home

for many years; why not make it an eye-pleasing experience?

4. Plenty of Room for Customization

Another reason to choose contemporary house plans is the fact that modern home designs

don’t necessarily rely on symmetry or other design conventions, leaving plenty of room for

customization and future expansion. In some cases, homeowners may even downgrade in size at

a later point and build on more outdoor features instead – thus, with modern house plans, there’s

no need to overburden your home with rooms or features you don’t require. Customize until you

have the right design fit.

5. Earth-Friendly

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly: Contemporary house plans often place a large

emphasis on energy and environmental efficiency. This means not being wasteful with materials,

insulation, air conditioning, air flow and so on. Maximizing and recycling energy wherever

possible is the goal. This includes, among other things, water-saving indoor plumbing, energy

efficient lighting and the use of building materials that are sustainable and recycled. These,

combined with good natural light levels and efficient airflow, are major aspects of a home design

that can save you money – and help the planet – in the long run.

In conclusion, before you decide on a house design, it’s always wise to spend time

researching and drawing up lists of the features you do and do not need. Take into account the

benefits contemporary designs offer and remember that you can always customize them to your

liking.

Chapter 3
METHODOLOGY

3.1 Research Methodology

This chapter includes the concept of respondent’s data gathering method and statistical

treatment that is being employed.

The client is to be given of 100m2 two story residential building regarding on the concept

they want. It is then attached all the calculations and other details of the design given to the

client.

3.3 Proposal Environment / Locale

This proposal is being conducted in the hometown of the client which is located at

Barangay Gata, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur where the said project of a 100m² Two-story

contemporary house design would be established.

3.4 Instruments

The instruments we use for the survey is a "yes or no" type of questionnaire that portraits
their opinions easily.

3.5 Source of Data

In this study, we have some sources of data that have been gathered to sustain and make a
progress until it will be fully complete. And this includes the legal papers coming from the
barangay office of Barangay Gata, also from the office of Municipal Mayor of San Agustin, we
had also gathered some of it from the residents themselves.

3.6 Planning

We first designed the contemporary house based on the recommended dimensions on

National Structure Code of the Philippines (NSCP), then followed by the proposal and agreement

on development of the establishment. In addition, selecting the best and economical materials to

be used during the construction of the said establishment and securing the structure from any

unwanted matters that could cause the said establishment into failure.

3.7 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

The design should the resist and survive any possible stress endured from loads. There are
different loads that needed to be considered, the structure’s own weight (dead load), rain and
foliage (live load), and also the wind load. Since the footing (foundation) must carry on both the
dead load and live load, it is then being studied according to ACI CODES including its
maximum capacity that could resist loads regardless on the desired that is being analyze.

We then choose the appropriate materials including (sand and gravel, cement, steel, etc.)
column and beam dimensions and roofing materials needed to resist those different load
combinations.

Chapter 4

Results

4.1 The Necessity Factor

We have conducted an interview with the client. They were satisfied of the said design.

Therefore, the design for these project will now continue.

CHAPTER 5

DISCUSSION

5.1 CONCLUSION

Based from our proposal the client agreed to negotiate matters according to the said

project. It meets their standards in terms of beauty and quality of the building.

Now that the necessity of this project has established, we then mapped the areas where

the building will be constructed. We tested it for structural integrity. The estimate for materials,

labor, and other factors has been made. At this moment, the project is ready for approval, and our

study has finally fulfilled its purpose.

5.2 RECOMMENDATIONS

Contemporary house design is very popular nowadays and because we add some modern

decorations in establishing in this design and considering first its durability, it should be done in

the near future.
