Speech Health: The New Normal After Pandemic Tittle: "Living Peace in The New Normal"
In these times of COVID-19, big challenge for most of us is how to protect ourselves and
our families from the virus and how to hold on to our jobs. I believe that you all, already
know what COVID-19 is. According to World Health OrganizationWHO, the corona virus
is a large family of viruses that can cause disease in animals or humans. In humans corona
is is known to cause respiratory infections ranging from common cold to more severe
illness such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS). The COVID-19 is corona virus spreads from person to person through
tiny drops from the nose or mouth that spread when a person coughs or exhales. These
drops then fall onto objects touched by other people.
But with the fight againts COVID-19 still be won, it has become commonplace that
awaits us after victory is a “new normal” in th way society is organized and the way we
will work. New normal is said to be a new way of life in the midst of a corona virus
pandemic whose recovery rate is increasing.
This is hardly reassuring, because nobody seems able to say what the new normal will be.
Because the message is that it will be dictated by the constraints imposed by the pandemic
rather than our choices and preferences.
Resistance to the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over. The addition of new cases
continues to occur in all countries in the world, a vaccine to stop the spread of this virus is
also still in the development stage. However, relaxation or easing of social distancing rules
that were previosly put in place to reduce the spread of the corona virus has begun.
In Indonesia, our President Jokowi has asked all his stuff to study field condition to
prepare a new normal order in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic on his speech at 15th
May. At present there are already 4 provinces and 25 regencies/cities tahat are preparing
for new normal. The new normal implementation will coincide with the disciplining of
health protocols guarded by National Police and TNI. Furthermore, the new normal order
will be expanded if considered effective.
Institute of Molecular Biology or LBM Eijkman has stated, the corona virus will not
disappear from theface of the earth in a long time . Therefore, the term side by side is
more appropriate to use than to make peace with the corona virus.
According to the statement, what needs to be done is wehave to recognize the virus to
prevent transmission.
We can see that the government has tried to protect the community from contracting and
transmitting COVID-19 by working from home (WFH). Even we as students asked by to
do lectures online until this time. Its all for protect us from the spreading virus.
The world health organization has prepared guidelines for the transition to new
normal during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this protocol, the state must prove capable of
controlling COVID-19 transmission before implementing new normal. This control must
also be carried out in places taht have high vulnerability such as nursing homes, mental
health facilities, and areas with many residents. Preventive control measures must also be
implemented in workplace. It begun to by estabilished such as physical distance, hand
washing facilities and respitory ethnics.
In the midst of new normal to face the corona outbreak pandemic, the most important
thing to do is the synergy between all elements to work together. Both of us who come
from health workers, both in the political, social, even the whole community must work
together to stop the spread of this virus.
Then how is it done ? namely by always implementing health protocols in this new
normal.
According to Wiku Adisasmita, Counsel-19 Task Force Accelerator Specialist, new
normal is a change of behavior to keep running normal activities but added health
protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
The health protocol to prevent the transmission are always keep our hands clean, avoid
touching aur face as much as possible avoid touching areas of eyes, nose, and mouth when
our hands is not clean, always apply ethics coughing and sneezing, always wear a mask
everywhere when leaving house or interacting with others, always keep distance minimum
1 meter from other people, do self isolation when you feel unwell such as having fever,
and the last but not least is always take care of your health.
