I. Introduction

Cyber bullying is a serious issue nowadays that have significant impact to all
people especially the teen, yet there is an underway debate for years across the
world amongst ordinary people, policy makers, and government if cyber bullying is a
joke or not. In definition, Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital
devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through
SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can
view, participate in, or share content. (U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services, 2020)

Technology continues to develop rapidly and is therefore changing our ways of

functioning in society. This brings new dimensions to our responsibilities as
educators and mentors. Recent research studies have shown that a substantial
number of students are victims of cyberbullying, which leads to a wider realization
that cyberbullying is becoming a serious problem (Cross, 2008; Li, 2006a, 2006b;
Thompson, Smith, & Goldsmith, 2008; Willard, 2004a).

Therefore, one cannot just be oblivious on the real-time happenings concerning the
Cyber Bullying. This issue is no more a joke or a regulation nostrum, it is a
real-time issue and should be given the most attention especially to policy makers
and government to resolve the issue before it all gets too late or, WE’RE ALREADY
LATE.

II. Body

In a HUMSS student’s point of view, and as being a concerned human, I

say that cyber bullying is real. It is a serious issue that everyone should give
importance with, especially that it directly affect our social, emotional and
pysiological health as we experience anxiety, fear, depression, and low self-
esteem. They also may experience physical symptoms, mental health issues, and
struggle academically.

Doubts in cyber bullying should not take over the human rational consciousness that
it leads to totally brushing off the idea of cyber bullied, making people unaware
and heedless of their actions towards the internet In result, accountability to
social media would be the hard to establish among the teens and young’s or even
adults. Which would be more alarming since we are still the ones to be directly a
victim of cyber bullying; given to the fact that we are engaging in social media
24/7.

III. Conclusion
In conclusion, research have shown that cyber bullying is a real time
problem that everybody should be aware of and believe in. Cyber bullying can
effect to the people and may result in mental health and intentional repeated harm
inflicted on others through the use of electronic devices. Nonetheless, there is
always hope in darkest of times. As humans, we still have a chance to minimize the
Cyber activities that happening today. The effects of cyber bullying can be limited
when each of us being mindful in engaging on any social media platforms.
