Please read this form and keep it for reference
Your claim for Jobseeker’s Benefit has been awarded. Your weekly rate is made up as follows:
If you are fully unemployed your first payment will be in will be in BANK OF IRELAND on 02/02/2021 and
every Friday after that.
If you work part-time and are paid into a financial institution your payment will be lodged into your account
on Tuesday each week (Wednesday after Bank Holiday weekends).
If you work part-time and are paid by cheque your payment will issue on Monday each week (Tuesday after
Bank Holiday weekends).
Arrears, if any due, not included in your first payment will issue to you shortly. Your personal rate is based
on your average weekly earnings in the relevant tax year. See Note 7.
If you are fully unemployed you are required to sign at INTREO CENTRE BLANCHARDSTOWN on
03/02/2021 at 10:00.
OR
If you are in part-time employment you are required to send in a docket each week advising the
office of the days you were employed and unemployed. The dockets will issue to you in batches of
four, you must return the appropriate one each week, completed by you and signed by your
employer.
If you qualify for a reduced rate of Jobseeker’s Benefit, you may apply for Jobseeker’s Allowance. This is a
means-tested payment.
If you are not satisfied with this decision, you may outline the reasons in writing and it will be reviewed by a
Deciding Officer. Additional documentary evidence, if any, should be provided to support your reasons.
OR
You may appeal in writing to the independent Social Welfare Appeals Office, D’Olier House, D’Olier Street,
Dublin 2 within 21 days of the date of this letter clearly stating the grounds of the appeal. You can get an
appeal form at any Intreo Centre or Branch Office.
Jobseeker’s Benefit is provided for in legislation by Sections 62 to 68 of the Social Welfare Consolidation
Act 2005 as amended and Articles 44 to 52 of SI 142 of 2007 as amended.

4. Holidays
You may take up to 2 weeks paid holidays in a calendar year. You must tell us before you go.
6. Duration of payment
Jobseeker’s Benefit is paid for 9 months (234 days) for people with 260 or more paid PRSI contributions. It
is paid for 6 months (156 days) for people with fewer than 260 paid PRSI contributions. Each full week of
Jobseeker’s Benefit counts as 6 days. If a claim links to a previous Jobseeker’s Benefit claim (within 26
weeks) the duration of payment will be reduced.
8. Working part-time
If you work on a casual or part-time basis, you will receive one-fifth of the weekly rate for each day that is
payable. However, the number of days worked and the number of days of paid Jobseeker’s Benefit cannot
exceed 5 in any Jobseeker’s Benefit week (Thursday to Wednesday).
9. Waiting Days
The first three days of a claim are not paid. These are known as waiting days. However, if your claim is
linked to an earlier claim you will be paid from the first day of the claim.
12. Overpayments
If you were overpaid on a Social Welfare scheme in the past, we may make deductions from your weekly
payment to recover the overpayment. Your Intreo Centre/Branch Office will contact you in this regard.
13. Taxation
Depending on your circumstances, you may be liable for income tax on some or all of your Jobseekers
Benefit payment. Tax is not charged on increases paid for any dependent children. Tax is also not
charged on the first €13 per week of your payment.
The Department will pay Jobseekers Benefit to you without deducting tax. The Department will, however,
notify Revenue of the taxable amount of Jobseekers Benefit to be taken into account for income tax
purposes. This means you do not have to do anything for the correct tax to be paid.

You do not pay PRSI and USC on your Jobseekers Benefit payment.
You must notify your Intreo Centre/Branch Office immediately if there are any changes in your
circumstances including:
If you find work (paid or unpaid), regardless of its duration
If you change your address
If your spouse/civil partner/cohabitant or child no longer resides with you
If a dependant dies
If you are no longer capable of or are no longer available for or looking for work
If your spouse/civil partner/cohabitant starts working, receives an increase in earnings, stops
working, or applies for a Social Welfare payment in their own right
If you commence a course of education, ETB training course, or any other Government sponsored
training/work programme
