The Importance Using Sunscreen

Lately the weather in Indonesia is categorized as extreme hot weather viewed from the
measured temperature, the sun in tropical countries such as Indonesia is blazing and hot, in
addition the sun produces UV rays, Ultraviolet (UV) rays are invisible rays which are the the
energy part that comes from the sun. UV rays can burn eyes, hair and skin if parts of the body are
not protected, or if you are too much sun. Worse, too often exposed to sunlight also has the
potential to cause skin cancer. However, before that happens, the skin will experience a gradual
process of damage, including premature aging, acne, dullness, darkening, wrinkles, dryness, and
reduced level of elasticity or skin elasticity.
Sunscreen is a skin care product whose use is not to be missed every day. Even more so if
you often do outdoor activities or in the sun. The main purpose of using sunscreen itself is to
protect the skin from the dangers of UV rays. Sunlight does not damage the skin all day, before
9:00 in the morning it is important for bones. We should instead be wary of rays that take place
since 9:00 to 15:00, because this is where the sun's rays contain UV rays that can damage the
skin.
What about indoor activities? Is sunscreen needed? Although in the room, it does not
mean the skin can not be exposed to the sun, because UV rays can penetrate the window glass.
Although the sun is a large source of vitamin D, it still has a negative impact if the skin is not
properly protected. For that, the use of sunscreen is very important to use to avoid skin problems.
The first thing you need to consider before using a sunscreen is to see the amount of SPF
contained in it. You should pay more attention to the SPF listed on the sunscreen package. SPF
or Sun Protection Factor serves to protect the skin from the dangers of ultraviolet B (UVB),
namely skin burns, blackening, and skin cancer. Choose green with SPF 30. These levels show
how effective sunscreen prevents your skin from burning from UVB rays. The number 30 shows
you are able to protect your skin for 300 minutes before you get sunburn. PA shows the level of
sunscreen protection against UVA rays that can cause long-term skin damage. PA is ranked as
PA +, PA ++, PA +++. The more +, the higher the protection against UVA rays.
Use sunscreen about 15-30 minutes before doing outdoor activities. This method is useful
to maximize the workings of the sunscreen that you use. Using sunscreen less than that time, as a
result the skin will not be protected with the maximum from the effects of UV rays. This is the
reason why our skin is easily burned or irritated despite using a sunscreen. Another thing that we
need to look at is, the use of a sunscreen is not enough to just rub it once, repeat using sunscreen
for 2 hours.
I personally believe wearing a sunscreen does not mean you are safe from sun radiation.
Sunscreen is only one protection product against the dangers of sunlight. The disadvantage of
sunscreens is that they are easily erased from the skin if exposed to water or erased by a towel or
cloth. Therefore, its use needs to be repeated.
