Was incorporated in India on the 24th August,1910 with the


name “IMPERIAL TOBACCO COMPANY OF INDIA LTD”.It has since been carrying on business
traditionally in cigarettes & tobacco and is an associate of British American company(BATCO).
The British American Tobacco Company was founded in 1902. The B.A.T. Industries Group is one
of the U.K ‘s largest business enterprises. It is the world’s largest international manufacturers
and a leading provider of personal, financial & business sevices in he U.K .North America .
with the steady indianisation of capital imperial tobacco company changed its name in may
1970 to “Indian tobacco company ltd”,signifying its integration with the country .in 974 indian
tobacco company promoted itself as a”made in india” label company by changing its name to
I.T.C Ltd. with its diversification spree. In april 2000,with a rapid change in technology and to
please the stake holders its changed its name to “ITC LTD” without any FULL STOPS.
Today ITC Ltd is one of the largest limited companies in India and has its divisions grouped as
traditional and non- traditional business.from cigerattes and tobacco,packaging and printing.ITC
Ltd diversified in to hotels,travels and tourism,pulp and paper,marketing,& export of cottage
sector products,information technology,ready to wear garments through wills lifestyle,ready to
eat food through kitchens of india and “ashirwad atta,”bingo,sunfeast,etc, and in to
confectionary market through launch of “mint-o”and cardyman.
ITC Ltd also became a dedicated patron of arts and music(sangeet research academy)&
protecting the environment through its corporate body of EHS.one of the recent additions to
ITC’s FMCG business its the range of personal care products branded as essenza di wills,fiama di
wills and vivel di wills.
