Course Objective
a) On completion of the course students will develop an understanding of legal framework of
Business.
b) Students will be able to appreciate the correctness of legal documents like different types of
business contracts , Sale Contracts , insurance contracts. etc.
c) Students will get the knowledge of the procedure of Forming Companies, role of Directors &
their legal responsibilities
d) Students will get insight into legality of E Business & Cyber Crimes.
Course Outcomes (COs)

CO1: To understand the basics of Business Laws & its influence on business.
CO2: To be able to apply the knowledge gained in entering into valid contracts.
CO3: To understand the importance of negotiable instruments & their use in business .
CO4: To gain the knowledge of new Company Law 2013 & its important provisions.

CO5: To understand the importance of new Information Technology Act,2000 & Cyber Laws.

Assessment Criteria: (Please note: Should be based on a mix of lectures, classroom discussions, peer
learning, case studies, simulations, project work, group studies etc.

Quizzes: At the end of every session there will be a quiz based on day’s presentation. Duration of quiz
will be of 10 minutes and the total evaluation will include this quiz marks as well.

Individual assignment: Students will be given individuals assignments with a deadline for submission.
Evaluation will be based on the examples and case laws explained in the assignment.

Class participation: 100% Participation in the class is important without which the course is incomplete.
Students with low attendance will loose grade as per the rule and may not be able to sit for the final
exams.

Expectations from the students

 Read assigned chapters/articles/cases before the session


 Major focus shall be on reading the shared material & watching suggested videos .
 Healthy discussions from students in the class will be encouraged.
 Research Papers: The students will be expected to go through articles in news papers & journals.
References shall be given from time to time.
 Case study: The students will be expected to go through articles in news papers & journals.

 Keep a track of deadlines
