Qualities of different Operating Systems

1. Linux Operating System:


 Linux is free:
Linux can be downloaded in its entirety from the Internet completely for free.
No registration fees, no costs per user, free updates, and freely available
source code in case you want to change the behavior of your system.
 Linux is portable to any hardware platform.
 Linux was made to keep on running:
This property allows for Linux to be applicable where people don't have the
time or the possibility to control their systems night and day.
 Linux is secure and versatile.
 Linux is scalable.
 The Linux OS and most Linux applications have very short debug-times.

2. UNIX Operating System:


 Multiuser: Multiple users can work on the system simultaneously by connecting
through a point known as terminal.
 Multi-tasking: It provides the facility to run multiple programs or processes by
multiple users on one system.
 Portability – It provides the flexibility to be used on multiple hardware architectures.
 It also provides easy maintenance of the files.
 This operating system provides Pipes and Filters to the user to design complex
programs from simple programs.
 It provides a wide variety of tools for software development and software
maintenance.

3. Android Operating System


 Auto Correction and Dictionary
Android Operating System has an interesting feature called Auto Correction. When
any word is misspelled, then Android recommends the meaningful and correct words
matching the words that are available in Dictionary. Users can add, edit and remove
words from Dictionary as per their wish.
 Voice-based features
Google search through voice has been available since initial release.
 Multitasking of applications, with unique handling of memory allocation, is available.
 Multitasking
 Screen capture
Android supports capturing a screenshot by pressing the power and home-screen
buttons at the same time.
 TV recording
 Android TV supports capturing and replaying it.
 Multiple language support
Android supports multiple languages.

4. MAC Operating System


 Fewer virus attacks
 Good customer support:
Apple has skilled engineers which helps the user in fixing the issues in their
hardware and software.
 Similar GUI for all the products:
Mac OS has same graphical user interface (GUI) as found in other Apple
products like iPhone and tablets.
 Performance and long life:
As Apple makes both hardware and software so it’s hardware communication
is very efficient and it improves performance.
 Can run Windows

5. Window Operating System


 Ease of use.
 Backwards compatibility.
 Games:
If you crave the latest in PC gaming technology, then you need Windows.
 Support for new hardware.
 Compatibility with MS driven websites.

 Conclusion:
According to me, MAC Operating system is best for use. The Mac operating
system is very easy to learn. The ease of use when in contact with a Mac is just
amazing. Some people will probably use Mac once and never even think about
switching. The file system is also very good and allows you to easily access
everything you need.
