ENGLISH 13 ( Creative Writing )

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

a. identify the play's major and minor characters;


b. discuss the idea of Willy Loman’s American Dream;
c. analyze the relationships between father and sons within the play;
d. dramatize the play’s exposition, rising action, climax, resolution and;
e. give the importance of working hard to achieve one’s dreams and valuing one’s
life through an essay.

C. MOTIVATION
“PICTURE PUZZLE”
a. The teacher will group the students into four (4).
b. Each group will be given one envelope with one cut-out pictures.
c. They will be given 2 minutes to complete the task.
d. The students will post their output on the board

IV. LESSON PROPER


A. Presentation of the Lesson
 The teacher will give the summarized hand-out of the play “Death of the
Salesman” to the students.
1. Activity
“DRAMA”
 The teacher will group the students into five groups.
 Each group will be given task to perform a drama about the Death of a
Salesman.
 Each group will be assign to dramatize the exposition, rising
action/conflict, climax, falling action, resolution.
 They will be given 5 minutes to prepare.

2. Analysis
 The teacher will post a story chart that summarizes the exposition, rising
action/conflict, climax, falling action, resolution.

 After that, the teacher will ask several questions about the drama they
have presented.
 There will be guided questions during discussion.
 Who is the author of the play?
 Who are the different characters of the story?
 How is Willy Loman’s idea of American dream different from the
meaning of true American Dream?
 How does Ben affect Willy? How does he influence the events in
the play?
 How can you describe the treatment of Willy Loman towards his
son?
 Why does Willy Loman Lost his job?
 What happen to Biff after he discovered his father’s infidelity?
 What was Willy’s plan after everybody falls asleep?
 Why does Willy commit suicide?
 How Willy’s death does does affects his family?
3. Abstraction
 The teacher will generalized the discussion by asking questions to the
students.
o What is the main point of the Death of the Salesman?
o What does the different theme implies in the play?
o What is the moral lesson in the play?
4. Application
“ESSAY”
 The students will answer a question using a ½ crosswise.
o If given a chance to become a salesman, how can you achieve
your dreams? Will you commit suicide if ever you fail?
