What's New in Version: Custom 3D Sound
What's new in version 2.0
C
ustom 3D sound ( XP11 only)
One of the most exciting new features is the brand new
dynamic custom made 3D s ound . It really brings the MiG29 to a whole new level.
More than 40 custom made sounds have been implemented, many of them
recorded on the real aircraft . To mention a few:
+ The a tmosphere in the cockpit is now fully
alive . We have manually adjustable fan noises,
different sounds on various flight levels and
gloads, the gsuit pressurization can be heard.
The breathing sound of the oxygen mask can be
adjusted to different volume levels.
Turns, especially at high AoA, got dynamic
sound that let’s you feel the strong aerodynamic
forces acting on the fuselage. Even the effects
of the pneumatic systems (compressed air)
used in the Russian fighter are present.
+ The c omputer voice of “NAGGIN NATASHA”
warns in potentially dangerous situations.
+ A lot of work has been invested in complex engine sounds i n and outside the
cockpit. Engines now feel e xtremely more realistic in all rpm ranges.
Engine sound not only reacts to different rpm but includes also special effects t hat
have been recorded on the real aircraft.
A set of realworld startup and shutdown engine sounds is also included.
+ D ozens of more dynamic effects are present like different sound levels for different
canopy open/close levels, many different switches, weapon launching, rain on the
windshield, flyby sounds, supersonic bang, Canopy jettison sounds, Ejection sound,
etc….

Flight model l (mostly for XP11)
+ A bunch of updates to the aircraft and it’s
airfoils increased its manoeuvrability at low
speeds and adds even more realism to turns
and rolls.
+ The e ngines thrust output is now plugin driven .
This dynamic settings adds even more realism
to the new XP11 engine model. With this the
MiG29 comes another step closer to the real life
speed, climb and turnrate values.
+ Since it was requested several times the MiG now has a “virtual” tailhook .
It is therefore possible to land on aircraft carriers. Assign the tailhook deploy
command to a key/button of your choice. When the tailhook is lowered the symbol
“HOOK” appears on the RADAR screen.
Cockpit l
+ A 3D collimated, focused to infinity Head up
display is now installed on the MiG as on the
FA18F. It adds another layer of realism, behaving
like a real HUD by maintaining symbol size and
relative to the pilot's eye and position relative to the
ground. Real life clipping is also included.
Extended gear, flaps and speedbrake symbols are
now shown directly in the HUD.
All 6 HUD modes are available.
+ The H elmtarget mode h as been overhauled.
Data visualization is now in the HUD during
Helm mode as with the real MiG29A.
+ The a utopilot functionality has been reduced
to the reliable functions of Autothrust and
AltitudeHold. AutoApproach and AttitudeHold
where removed due to reliability issues.
+ The XPlane GN530 GPS is now available in
the cockpit. It’s useful on complex navigation
challenges.
Steering of the aircraft must occur manually.

+ Several instruments got an overhaul, showing now more precise and realistic
values.
+ The l imits for the ADF frequencies h ave been increased so that it works also for
Russian ADF’s.
+ M irror images are now static and do not show the disturbing “grainy” mirror images
any more.
Outside View w
+ An XP11 specific objects set has been
created. Normal maps and textures have been
adapted to the n ew XP11 rendering engine .
+ The build in vortices effects have been
removed . A new particle system is coming from
XPlane 11 itself in the future.
+ The afterburner effect has been updated.
Other w
+ The manual has been refreshed both content and graphics. It contains now
additional infos on XP11 settings where needed.
+ The weapon system has been ported from XP10 to XP11 by Laminar to assure
weapon functionality until the brand new weapon system will be available inside
XPlane 11.
