CONTESTS GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
1.Online Quiz Bee
1. The QUIZ BEE is open to both elementary and high school students of the Division of
Tuguegarao City, public and private schools.
2. Only 1 per elementary school is allowed to join the competition and 2 per school in the Junior
High and Senior High. The limit of participants to a maximum of 40 is to have a better view of
the contestants during contests proper. Coaches, parents and others can view the quiz on
Facebook llive or Youtube live only.
3. Only the registered official contestants are allowed to sign in on the platform.
4. Participants should be familiar in the use of Google forms, Microsoft forms, and/or Quiz
platforms. A dry-run shall be conducted before the scheduled contests.
5. All participants must use a computer laptop or desktop only. Use of smartphones is
discouraged since a bigger window is needed for you to comfortably key in your answers
depending on the platform that the students will be using.
6. A strong internet connection should be used to eliminate lags and disconnection during the
competition.
7. Participants who will experience technical difficulties such as internet disconnection and
power interruption are still allowed to answer the succeeding questions. However, missed
questions will no longer be repeated for them.
8. The activity will use the Google Spreadsheet in registering participants. The Google Link for
registration for this category shall be forwarded to the schools five (5) days before the conduct of
the activity. (Please get in touch with technical working group for the said activity)
9. The activity will use the Google Meet on the day of the event. The links will be sent to the e-
mail addresses (please use Gmail accounts) of the participants one(1) day before the event.
10. On the day of the event. Meeting room will be opened at 8:00 AM. All participants should be
able to log in one (1) hour before the start of the activity. The activity will officially start at 9:00
AM.

11. Each level will have different sets of facilitators, Elementary Science Teachers will facilitate
the High School Level Quiz bee while High School Science Teachers will facilitate Elementary
Quiz bee to preserve the integrity of results.
12. Late participants will no longer be admitted once the program has started.
13. Certificates of Recognition will be given to the winners. Certificates of Participation will be
given to all participants.
14. All participants are required to accomplish an electronic feedback form right after the
conduct of the activity.
MECHANICS OF THE QUIZ BEE PROPER
1. Video cameras of all participants should be enabled during the entire conduct of the event.
Coaches or parents should keep their distance from the contestants. Only contestants should
be seen on the camera. No camera would also mean disqualification for the participants.
Coaches or parents visible on the background will automatically disqualify the contestant.
Background change setting IS NOT ALLOWED for the contestants.
2. All questions will be based on the content and application of the science subjects based on
the MELCs issued by the Department of Education
3. All participants will be given the link to access the questionnaire and its corresponding
electronic answer sheet.
4. The contest shall be composed of three(3) rounds with 5 questions for each round.
5. The first round shall be the easy category(1 point per question), the second round will be the
average category(3 points per question) and the third round will be the difficult category(5
points per question) except for the quiz platform wherein the pointing system will be the
same all throughout the contests.
6. In case of a tie, the quizmaster shall read a sudden death question.
7. All questions will be read by the quizmaster twice. Participants are given specific time only
to answer the questions. Changing of answers from the previous questions are not allowed.
The system will give a notification to the facilitator if changes were done. Any changed
answer will not be counted as part of the score.
8. Participants will ONLY key in their answer AFTER the Quizmaster has read the question for
the SECOND time.
9. Participants shall not modify their electronic answer sheets. They are not also allowed to
share same with other participants.
10. Directly INPUT the required answers in the ANSWER SHEET and not use ‘COPY PASTE’.
11. The system will automatically save the results per item.
12. The Quizmaster will reveal the answers after each round ONLY.
13. An electronic tally board shall be presented after each round showing status of scores of the
participants.

14. The Quizmaster shall read the top 5 participants for each round. The technical team shall
present the result of each round from top to bottom(scrolling)
15. The final results, specially the top three winners shall be presented by the technical team and
read by the quizmaster. Once results are read and winners are presented by the quizmaster,
these shall be final and irrevocable.
16. Each winner shall have a photo documentation with Deped Officials with their Certificates of
Recognition.
17. Participate who violate ANY of the rules and mechanics shall automatically be disqualified.

ON THE USE OF THE GOOGLE FORMS/ MS FORMS

1. The participants will be given links per category for both Google forms or Ms forms. One
link for the easy round, one link for the average round, and another link for the difficult
round.
2. The participants will be given the link for each round with 5 questions at the same time. The
contestants will only key in their answer for every question after the quiz master will give
them to go signal within the specific time.
3. After the easy round, the scores will be automatically tallied by the system.
4. Announcement of scores will be AFTER the easy round.
5. The average round will commence after the easy round with another form link to be given to
the participants, which will only be forwarded during the quiz bee proper on the Google meet
chat box.
6. The quizmaster will announce if the contestants could open the link for the average round.
7. The participants will be given the link for te average round with 5 questions at the same time.
The contestants will only key in their answer for every question after the quiz master will
give them the go signal within the specific time.
8. After the average round, the scores will be automatically tallied by the system.
9. Announcement of scores will be AFTER the average round.
10. The difficult round will commence after the average round with another form link to be given
to the participants, which will only be forwarded during the quiz bee proper on the zoom or
Google meet chat box.
11. The quizmaster will announce if the contestants could open the link for the difficult round.
12. The participants will be given the link for the difficult round with 5 questions at the same
time. The contestants will only key in their answer for every question after the quiz master
will give them the go signal within specific time.
13. After the difficult round, the scores will be automatically tallied by the system.
14. Announcement of scores will be AFTER the difficult round.
