Performance Task Math 8 Week 5 To 8 1

This document contains a performance task in mathematics for 8th grade students. It provides examples of conditional statements and asks students to write the converse, inverse, and contrapositive of several conditional statements. The task is scored on a rubric from 8 to 2 points based on how correctly the student completes the table with the requested logical equivalences. An answer key is provided with the converse, inverse, and contrapositive for each conditional statement in the task.

Quarter 2 Week 7

MELC: Determine the inverse, converse and contrapositive of an if- then statement.

Competency Code:M8AL-llg-1

Name: ______________________ Section: _____________ Date: ____________

Directions: Complete the table below .Given the conditional statement, supply the converse, inverse
and contrapositive . Write your answer in the test paper.

Sample:
Conditional statement: If you work for eight hours, then you work for one – third of a day.
Converse : If you work for one- third od a day, then you work for eight hours.
Inverse : If you do not work for eight hours, then you do not work for one- third of a day.
Contrapositive: If you do not work for one- third of a day, then you do not work for eight hours.

Conditional Statement Converse Inverse Contrapositive

1. If the weather is nice,

then I will wash the car.

2. If I am at Disneyland,
then I am in California.

3. If 6 is a factor of x,
then 2 is a factor of X.

4. If 2x=18, then x= 9.

5. If n>2, then n² > 4.

RUBRICS:
8 Points Perfectly completed the table and supplied the converse, inverse and contrapositive
of the conditional statement without errors.
6 Points Almost perfectly completed the table and supplied the converse, inverse and
contrapositive of the conditional statement with minimal errors.
4 Points Satisfactorily completed the table and supplied the converse, inverse and
contrapositive of the conditional statement with few errors.
2 Points Need improvement in completing the table and supplied the converse, inverse and
contrapositive of the condition statement with lot of errors.
