English For Academic and Professional Purposes: Quarter 2 - Module 3: Writes and Various Kinds of Position Paper

This document provides an overview of a module on position papers and their various types. It includes a pre-test to assess good and bad practices when writing position papers. Some good practices identified include considering all possible views on an issue and restating one's position in the conclusion. Bad practices include using only opinions and fallacies to support arguments or relying solely on emotional appeals. The document then prompts the reader to choose an issue, state their opinion on it in 3 sentences, and provides 3 example issues: arresting innocent people, the readiness of schools for the 2020-2021 year, and discrimination against people with tattoos and piercings.

PRACTICE TASK 1

Issue/Problem

1. Arresting innocent people even without a warrant of arrest

2. DepEd’s Readiness for School Year 2020-2021
3. Discrimination against people who had tattoos and piercings

My Opinion

1. This case is way too out of the line, they think that they are fishermen that caught people
once they grab the bait. As long as they had the power to commit something towards the
innocent people, they do it without mercy.
2. How can the DepEd start a face to face class when the cases of COVID-19 victims are
increasing? I know that they are just concern for the students who can afford something
that needed in online classes but did they consider the health of their students if they are
going to attend face to face classes? Education > Health? They are out of their minds.
3. I am not in favor because it violates the human rights such as the right wo walk in public
places with confidence and without thinking of what the others think of them.
