This document provides instructions for estimating quantities of materials needed for the earthworks, concrete, and masonry of a storage house foundation and walls. Students are asked to use foundation plans, column details, and wall details to calculate: 1) volumes of excavation, backfill, and earthfilling, 2) quantities of cement, gravel and sand for concrete in columns, beams, footings and slabs, and 3) quantities of concrete hollow blocks, cement, and sand for masonry walls. Dimensions and mix types are provided.

From the foundation plan of a 5m x 4m storage house, column and column footing detail, and wall footing detail shown, determine the following: a. Volume of excavation, backfill, and earthfilling materials. b. Determine the quantity of cement, gravel and sand for concrete. c. Determine the quantity of CHB, cement, and sand for masonry wall. The height of wall and column from FFL is 2.7m and 3 m respectively ( roof beam size is 200mm x 300 mm ). Use class A concrete mix for columns, beams and footings., class B for wall footing, and class C for slab.
