NURSERY LESSON PLAN

Week : 3

Day/ Date : Tuesday / 13 October 2017

Children’s age : 3-4 years old

Number of children : 6 children

Theme : Space

Title of Activity : Big space, small space

Area of Learning : Development of early mathematics and logical thinking

Previous knowledge : Children can pronounce “big” and “small.”

Objective :

1. Children are able to differentiate between big and small objects (development of early
mathematics and logical thinking)
2. Children are able to say “big” and “small” objects (development of language,
communication and early literacy)
3. Children are able to follow instructions and rules by the caregiver (development of
personality, socio-emotional and spiritual)

Location : Mathematics area (indoor)

Material : 1 big box, 1 small box, 6 big balls and 6 small balls

Steps:

Beginning

a. Caregiver leads the children to the activity area in the nursery.


b. Caregiver initiates conversations with them and sing together.
c. Caregiver explains about activity to be conducted by showing the teaching materials.

Contents to Achieve Objectives


a. Caregiver asks several questions related to the activity such as, “Which one is a big ball?” and
“Which one is a small box?” based on the children’s previous experience.
b. Caregiver shows a big ball and a small ball to children and teaches them to say “big ball” and
“small ball.”
c. Next, caregiver shows a big box and a small box to children and teaches them to say “big box” and
“small box.”
d. Caregiver distributes some big balls and small balls and gives to children.
e. Caregiver asks the children to show the big balls and then the small balls.
f. Caregiver instructs the children to place the big balls into the big box and the small balls into the
small box.
g. Children are encouraged to try again if they could not make it the first time.
h. Caregiver guides the children and praises them when they succeed.

Contingency Action

a. If they children succeed, they are asked to use small balls and fill up the big box. Give praises to
the children.
b. If the children do not succeed, caregiver guides them until they manage to do themselves.

Closure

a. Caregiver repeats questions related to “big” and “small.”


b. Praises are given to children who participate in the activity.
c. Caregiver guides the children to clean up the materials.
d. Caregiver says ‘Thank You’ to children.

Attention

Safety:

Caregiver needs to ensure that the floor is not slippery while conducting the activity.

Cleanliness:

Caregiver needs to ensure that the activity area and materials are clean.

Health:

Caregiver needs to ensure that children are healthy during the activity.
