PCO Solenoid
Illustration 3 g01134149
PCO Solenoid

When the operator requests a ripper function, the PCO valve is energized by the Implement ECM. The Implement ECM will
energize the PCO solenoid when an engine overspeed condition is detected. The PCO valve again directs pilot oil to shift the
shuttle valve (in the dozer control valve), shutting off the flow of high pressure pump oil to tank, and providing maximum oil
pressure for ripper operation.

The solenoid is a ON/OFF type of solenoid valve.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 1872 when the failure is presentfor the PCO solenoid.

Implement Lockout Solenoid

Illustration 4 g01114960
Solenoid Valve (Implement Lockout)

The implement lockout solenoid is designed to prevent the movement of the blade and the ripper. The flow of oil through the
implement pilot manifold is blocked when the solenoid is de-energized. The movement of the ripper solenoid or the blade
solenoid will have no effect, if the oil is not flowing. The operator will use the implement lockout switch in order to energize the
solenoid valve or the switch is used to de-energize the solenoid valve. The implement lockout solenoid does not affect the pin
puller attachment. The switch affects the system in the following manner:

LOCKED - The solenoid is de-energized. The implement system is no longer operable.

UNLOCKED - The solenoid is energized. The implement system is enabled.

The implement lockout solenoid is an on/off type of solenoid. The ECM provides +battery power to the solenoid via the
implement lockout switch. The coil resistance of the solenoid valve is approximately 20 ohms at room temperature. The ECM
will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0882 when the failure is present.

Implement Oil Diverter Solenoid

Implement Oil Diverter Solenoid

When the AutoCarry mode is active, the solenoid valve is energized and directs the flow from the lift pump back to the tank.
The tilt pump is then the sole supply of oil used for making automatic height adjustments to the dozer blade during the carry
cycle.

The implement oil diverter solenoid is an on/off type of solenoid. The ECM provides +battery power to the solenoid. The coil
resistance of the solenoid valve is approximately 32 ohms at room temperature. The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the
ECM will log a CID 1709 when the failure is present.

Each of these solenoid valves is designed to control the flow of oil to the hydraulic system. These solenoids control the height
of the blade, the tilt of the blade, the height of the ripper and the tilt of the ripper. The ECM will adjust the solenoid valves
according to the request that is made by the operator through the blade control handle or the ripper control handle. The EH pilot
manifold contains four proportional solenoid valves that receive PWM signals from the Implement ECM for operating the blade
lift and tilt functions. The EH pilot manifold also contains five ON/OFF solenoid valves - two each for the blade tilt function, the
ripper raise/lower function, and the ripper shank in/out function, and one solenoid valve for engine overspeed protection (PCO
valve). For the proportional type of solenoid valve, the ECM uses a pulse width modulated signal (PWM) in order to vary the
current to the solenoid. The solenoid will receive electrical current from the ECM. The solenoid plunger will travel a distance
that is in proportion to the electrical current that is being sent from the ECM. The electrical current to the solenoid will control
the position of the valve. The Implement ECM sends only high current signals to the PCO valve solenoid and the ripper
solenoid valves. These solenoid valves are all ON/OFF solenoid valves. The ECM can detect a failure in the solenoid circuit and
the ECM will record a diagnostic code when a failure is present.

Note: The solenoid coils are not designed to operate using 24 DCV directly. The ECM sends a PWM signal of 24 volts at a duty
cycle that will provide the necessary current to the solenoid coils. Do NOT activate the coils by using 24 DCV (+battery). The
life of the coils will be reduced drastically. A source of 12 DCV should be used, if the coils must be activated by not using the
ECM.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0889 when the failure is present for the Ripper Shank Raise.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0888 when the failure is present for the Ripper Shank Lower
Solenoid.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0886 when the failure is present for the Ripper Shank In
Solenoid.
The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0887 when the failure is present for the Ripper Shank Out
Solenoid.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 1198 when the failure is present for the Blade Raise Solenoid.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 1197 when the failure is present for the Blade Lower Solenoid.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0498 when the failure is present for the Blade Tilt Left Solenoid.

The ECM will detect a circuit failure and the ECM will log a CID 0497 when the failure is present for the Blade Tilt Right
Solenoid.

Dual Tilt Solenoid Valve
(2) Pitch solenoid
(3) Single tilt solenoid

The dual tilt solenoid valve is designed to direct the flow of oil for operations that require a change in blade pitch and operations
that require dual tilt. The solenoid valve has two positions: pitch and dual tilt. The solenoid valve has a pitch solenoid and a
single tilt solenoid. The solenoid valve is in the dual tilt position, when electrical current is not being applied. Operations of dual
tilt occur when there is a request for tilt operations. The pitch solenoid of the dual tilt solenoid valve will cause the valve to move
to the pitch position. The pitch solenoid is activated when a request for "pitch back" or pitch forward is made. The pitch solenoid
is an on/off type of solenoid. The ECM will provide a PWM signal to the solenoid, when a request to pitch back or pitch forward
is made. The resistance of the coil is approximately 25 ohms at room temperature. The single tilt solenoid of the dual tilt
solenoid valve is present, but not used. The resistance of the coil is approximately 25 ohms at room temperature. The ECM can
detect a failure in the circuit of the pitch solenoid and the single tilt solenoid. The diagnostic code that is associated with the
pitch solenoid is CID 0884. The diagnostic code that is associated with the single tilt solenoid is CID 1047.
