Sheets. This LAS will be the start of your Quarter 2.

The Nature and Purposes of Online Platform is one of the topics that you need to learn and
understand in our subject. This Learning Activity Sheet is good for 1 week.

You should be able to have an initial grasp of the following topic:

1. Online platform for ICT Content Development


2. Content Management System

At the end of the lesson, you are expected to create a blog using the online platform of
your choice about the history, amenities, and facilities of the hotels here in Laiya. You may
include pictures.

STAGE 2: ACCEPTABLE EVIDENCE OF LEARNING

Your blog will be graded according to the following standard:


1. Spelling and Grammar (40 %) – the post is easy to read and there are very few spelling and
grammar mistakes
2. Original Content (20%) – The post is 99%-100% in the author’s own word.
3. Giving Credit (10%) – All sources are credited.
4. Presentation (20%) – Design is unique and well thought out. Completed work is exceptionally
neat.
5. Timeliness (20%) – The output was submitted on time.

Lecture 1: Online Platforms for ICT Content Development

In the earlier years sometime in the 1990s, creating a webpage or a website was a skill required a
mind of computer programmer, working on standard lines of computer code that need to be
memorized to produce basically flat but colorful document. Nowadays, it is so much easier that a
high school student with enough creativity could assemble textual and visual parts that are
already interactive and fun for the user. Moreover, websites have evolved into tools and platforms
for discovery, sharing, connection and co-creation.

Online Platform is technologies that are grouped to be used as a base upon which other
applications processes or technologies are developed.

Examples of Online Platform

2. Cloud Computing
the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store, manage,
and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer

are computer-mediated tools that allow people, companies, and other organizations to

– online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-
character messages called “tweets”.

encompasses several important elements including color, layout, and overall graphical

- a cloud-based web development platform that allows users to create HTML5

- a web-hosting service featuring a drag and-drop website builder.
5. File Management
is the storing, naming, sorting, and handling computer files

- web application to convert files
b. word2pdf
- convert Word files to PDF (Portable Document Format) with this online tool.
6. Mapping
a transformation taking the points of one space into the points of the same or another
space.

a. Google Maps – a desktop web mapping service developed by Google

Lecture 2: CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)

Is a computer application (sometimes online or browser based) that allows you to publish,
edit and manipulate, organize, and delete web content? CMS is used in blogs, news websites,
and shopping Blogs- is a discussion or informational website published on the web consisting of
discrete, often informal diary-style text entries ("posts"). Posts are typically displayed in reverse
chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page.

There are many good reasons to create a blog. You may want to practice your writing,
create a following, establish your brand, or use blogging as a marketing tool to increase site
traffic. It’s also a great way to connect with like-minded people.

Examples of Blogging Sites

a. WordPress
- Among the best blog sites, the self-hosted version of WordPress is, by far the most
popular blogging platform in the world. WordPress powers over 90 percent of all the
blogs on the Internet.
b. Blogger

-This free blog hosting service has been around for a long time. It was founded in
1999 and acquired by Google in 2003. As a consequence, you can sign up easily
with your existing Google account.
c. Medium

Medium is a publishing platform founded in 2012 by one of the people behind Twitter.
By now, it has become a popular community for writers, bloggers, and journalists.

In addition to the ability to write blog posts, it also comes with limited social networking
functions. You can comment on other people’s content and “like” it (likes are called
“claps” on Medium). The audience is built into the platform.

d. Squarespace
Squarespace is a drag-and-drop website builder which is aimed at small business
owners. It’s a great all-in-one solution for non-technical people and offers hosting,
domain registration, and the possibility for e-commerce. It also has blogging capabilities
which are the reason why it’s among the best blog sites out there.
e. Tumblr
- The service is a micro-blogging platform optimized for short-form content. It also has
a community behind it and social network features.

Directions: Create a blog using the blogging platform of your choice.

1. Research 3 resorts in Laiya that gets your interest. Look for the history, amenities, and
facilities it has to offer to the guest who liked to unwind here in our area. Please put the
sources or websites where you get your pictures and words to avoid plagiarism.
2. Create a blog post about these resorts in the blogging platform of your choice.
3. Send the link of your output to your teacher’s Messenger Account.
