2. This is the radar device that measures the level in the Feed Inlet
Launder. If it goes below 600 mm then there will most likely be a
blockage in the holes feeding into the Clarifier. It could be protein
scale.
3. This is the Flash Tank level control. The setpoint is now on 65.
4. This area is the mud control and isolation from the Clarifier. The
mud control is based on the DP Cell level in the mud mixer. It’s
setpoint is 68. Once the level gets too high in the mixer, the isolation
valve will close.
5. This is the floc ratio control. The Floc is currently in a 2.5 ratio to the
secondary juice flow. The dilution is in a ratio of 4 to the floc flow.
6. The mud mixer to filter boot controls have been put back to pulse
automatically to auto on the start of the Filter station. In the case
where the Clarifier mud underflow shuts down, a restart will
automatically start sending mud to the boot. (Note : You will need to
isolate the boot at the Manual valve if you do not wish mud to flow to
the boot at any time.)
7. This area is the Filtrate / Maceration select for the dilution of the
mud. Presently we are using bagacillo and filtrate to dilute the mud
so that we can get the mud pol as low as possible. We should try to
run as much Filter area as possible but maintain a mud level of ½
window in the clarifier by strategically adding filtrate to reduce or
increase the mud output rate.
8. The floc dilution select option is for ESJ or Maceration. On start up
maceration is automatically selected. If the turbidity goes above 15
(old meter) then maceration will be automatically selected. You will
need to reselect ESJ once the turbidity is under control.
9. This area is the liming rate to the mud mixer. Set an on time and
mud underflow rate to keep the Filtrate pH at 8.0.
Surge Setpoint is the level at which you want to run the surge tank.
Juice Flow is the actual Speed setting flowrate for the VF drive pump
only.
Deadband is the starting point for flow control in the deadband. The
deadband is 10 units either side of the Surge Setpoint. This is where
the flowrate is equal to the Juice Flow setting. Above the deadband
will increase flow and below the deadband will reduce flow.
The old system is still active only for the spare pump. This is the
system that looks at the level in the surge and changes the flow
setpoint based on an incremental flow change to keep the level in the
surge between 30 and 70%. (ie. On Process Overview Graphic)
If the Clarifier turbidity is high, then please ensure that you have
temperature, floc flow and pH. Slow the Secondary Juice flow to less than
400 until the turbidity is under control. If you are unable to rectify the
turbidity problem within 5 – 10 minutes, then please reduce the juice flow
to minimum and stop the juice flow or mill as required.
If you have any queries or need more information about any of the systems
please ask.
Thanks,
David Pike
