It is the final manifestation of religion and contains the sum of all religious truth. Islam consists of principles of faith like belief in Allah and practical duties like prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage. It introduced seeking knowledge as a religious duty, teaches the scientific method, promotes rational thinking, equality, and gives women rights. Islam prohibits slavery and connects outward practice of law to inner spiritual development.

Who is a Muslim?
Any animate or inanimate that obeys the commandment of Allah willing or unwillingly
is Muslim. (03:83). A man who obeys the order of Allah on the authority of Prophet
Muhammad (S.A.W.) willingly is called a Muslim.
What is Islam?
Islam is the religion of peace that has come to us from Allah from the very creation
of mankind and it came in its perfect form after the advent of prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W). Therefore Islam as revealed to the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) is the last
manifestation of religion. It is the final and highest message for all mankind. It is sum
and substance of all truth and facts that have been revealed from time to time for the
guidance of mankind.
Islam is not the religion of dogmas and rituals but it is complete code of life. It is
most rational, scientific and simple to be followed. It is free from superstitions and
ceremonies that are dominant in many religions of the world.
Islam consists of two parts. One is called principles which cover all articles of faith.
The other part is practical side of the religion which includes all that a Muslim has to
do. Any one who enters into the fold of Islam, has to believe in Allah, His angels, His
holy books and holy Quran the last revealed book, His prophets and Muhammad
(S.A.W) as the last prophet and the life hereafter. After having faith in the entire, one
has to fulfill the duties assigned by Allah. The duties assigned by Allah are of two
types (i.e. duties of Allah and rights of human beings and other creatures). Duties of
Allah include prayer, charity, fasting and pilgrimage. The other duties are to care the
rights of human beings and other creatures.
Specific Peculiarities of Islam
 Islam has introduced seeking knowledge as religious duty of a man.
 Islam teaches to observe and use inductive method in research and scientific
study.
 Islam teaches to use mind and other faculties of the body to know the nature
and its phenomena.
 Islam has brought the end of formalism and ceremonialism.
 Islam has brought clear concept of Oneness of Allah (Tauheed).
 Islam has brought unique message of equality and brotherhood.
 Islam has given due rights and due status to a woman.
 Islam has bridged over gulf between secular and religious the terms used in
post.
 Islam prohibited institution of slavery.
 Islam conjoined Shariat and Tariqat together for spiritual advancement of a
person.
 In Islam actions are judged by motives.
