This document contains the responses to several statistical analysis questions (SAQs). SAQ 7-1 includes a frequency table showing the distribution of test scores in 5 classes. SAQ 7-2 includes a histogram and frequency polygon showing the distribution of the same test scores. SAQ 7-3 discusses assessing the presence and severity of bed sores among patients in a hospital, including defining the population and challenges. SAQ 7-4 includes measurement scales for variables and grouped frequency distributions for gender, age group, support surface, and Waterlow score of patients.

SAQ 7-3
You are a nurse manager of a large general hospital. You wish to investigate the presence of
bed sores or pressure sores among patients. You decided to arrange for nurse assessment of the
presence and severity of pressure sores of every patient in the hospital at some between 9 a.m. and
6 p.m. on a specific day.
 What is the population in this project?
The patients who experience bed/pressure sores in the general hospital.
 What factors will make it difficult to assess every patient whom medical records report?
o Everyday, there will be changes on the number of patients who will experience bed
sores.
o The number of patients admitted everyday will be different.
o Bed sore is not an important matter for the hospital to record it, therefore, accumulation
of the data will be difficult.
