DWSIM Installation Guidelines

System Requirements:

OS:

Windows: 32/64-bit 7/8/10

Linux: 32/64-bit Wine-supported (https://www.winehq.org)

macOS: 10.7 (OS X Lion) or newer

Software:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.2 or newer (Windows)

Wine 3.0.3 or newer (Linux)

CPU:

1.0 GHz dual-core processor (minimum)

Memory:

2 GB RAM

Graphics Card:

128 MB with OpenGL hardware acceleration

Display:

1280x800 display resolution (minimum)

Disk space:

750-2000 MB for program files

Installation procedure:

1. Windows OS

1. Please make sure that you meet the system requirements to download and install
DWSIM.
2. Open your default web browser.
3. In the address bar, type the following URL and press Enter.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dwsim/files/DWSIM/
4. Click on the folder with the latest version. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.
5. Click on the folder with the latest update. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.2.
6. Click on “DWSIM_bin_v642_setup_win7win8win10_64bit.exe” (if it is 64-bit
operating system)
7. Click on “DWSIM_bin_v642_setup_win7win8win10_32bit.exe” (if it is 32-bit
operating system)
8. The .exe file gets downloaded and saved in the Downloads folder.
9. Go to the Downloads folder and double click on .exe file.
10. In the User Account Control window, Click Yes.
11. In the Installer Language window, Click OK.
12. DWSIM 6.4.2 setup window appears. Click Next.
13. In the License Agreement section, click on I Agree.
14. Click on Next.
15. Select components to install the field, select all the components and click Next.
16. Click on Next.
17. Click on Install.
18. In ChemSep 8.23 LITE Setup License Agreement section, click on I Agree.
19. Click on Next.
20. Click on Next.
21. Click on Install.
22. Click on Next.
23. Click on Finish.
24. Click on Next.
25. Under CAPE-OPEN libraries, check the Accept License Agreement check box.
26. Click on Next.
27. Click on Next.
28. Click on Install.
29. Click on Finish.
30. Click on Next.
31. Click on Finish.
32. DWSIM is successfully installed.

2. Linux OS

1. Please make sure that you meet the system requirements to download and install
DWSIM.
2. Open your default web browser.
3. In the address bar, type the following URL and press Enter.

4. Click on the folder with the latest version. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.
5. Click on the folder with the latest update. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.2.
6. Click on " dwsim_6.4.2-amd64.deb "
7. The file will be downloaded and saved in the default downloads folder.
8. Install Mono Framework version 6.8.0 or newer https://www.mono-
project.com/download/stable/#download-lin
9. Open the terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T keys together.
10. Type the below command and press enter
sudo gdebi dwsim 6.1.1-amd64.deb
11. In the terminal, type dwsim.
12. If DWSIM opens on your machine, then this means that DWSIM is successfully
installed.

3. MacOS

1. Please make sure that you meet the system requirements to download and install
DWSIM.
2. Open your default web browser.
3. In the address bar, type the following URL and press Enter.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dwsim/files/DWSIM/
4. Click on the folder with the latest version. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.
5. Click on the folder with the latest update. Currently it is DWSIM 6.4.2.
6. Click on "DWSIM_v642_macOS.zip"
7. The file will be downloaded and saved in the default downloads folder.
8. Locate the downloaded zip file from the downloads folder.
9. Extract the zip file in the Desktop.
10. Locate the extracted folder and open the folder.
11. Double click on DWSIM.app
12. If DWSIM opens on your machine, then this means that DWSIM is successfully
installed.

4. Checking for installation

1. To check for the successful software installation, please follow these steps:
a. For Windows: Go to DWSIM, right click on it and select "Run as administrator"
b. For Linux: Open a command terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T and type "dwsim-
classic"
c. For MacOS: Double click on DWSIM.app
2. In the Welcome to DWSIM window, click on the Samples under Quick Access.
3. Click "Carbon Combustion.dwxml".
4. Maximize the flowsheet window.
5. Now press the Solve Flowsheet button.
6. Following message should be displayed after solving the flowsheet "The flowsheet was
calculated successfully".
