Q.uick Start Guide: How to Change/View the IP Address in a Q.

gate Test Controller using the


Serial Terminal

Purpose: There are situations when we do not know the IP address of our Q.gate and need a way to
change or view it. This can be done using the serial terminal on the front of a Q.gate. The Serial Terminal
setting is accessed via test.commander.

Procedure:

1. Connect a DB9 to mini jack cable from the PC to the Q.gate. If your PC doesn’t have a DB9 serial
port, you will need an additional USB to DB9 cable.

2. Make sure the COM port on the PC has the following settings (Computer > Properties > Device
Manager > Ports > Properties > Port Settings):

Baud Rate (Bits per second): 115,200


Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None

3. Provide power to the Q.gate.

4. Open test.commander.

5. Utilities > Controller serial Terminal.

6. Click on Options > Comport. Make sure the correct settings shown above are chosen. Click OK.

7. Click on the Read button. The Static IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address are all
shown.

8. If it doesn’t display at first, click on Options > Force Respond. Follow on-screen directions.
