C. Lesson Proper

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

"Nothing Compares 2 U"

It's been seven hours and fifteen days (students are listening)
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away

Since you've been gone I can do whatever I want

I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues

'Cause nothing compares

Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here

Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me, baby, where did I go wrong

I could put my arms around every boy I see

But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor and guess what he told me?
Guess what he told me?
He said, "Girl, you better try to have fun no matter
what you do,"
But he's a fool

'Cause nothing compares

Nothing compares to you

All the flowers that you planted, mama, in the back

yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you, baby, was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try

Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

(ask your students on their observation about the (students raising their hands)
song/;yrics)

(Discussion of the topic)

Present perfect tense

The present perfect tense refers to an action or state
that either occurred at an indefinite time in the past (the students are listening)
(e.g., we have talked before) or began in the past and
continued to the present time (e.g., he has grown
impatient over the last hour). This tense is formed by
have/has + the past participle.
The construction of this verb tense is straightforward.
The first element is have or has, depending on the
subject the verb is conjugated with. The second
element is the past participle of the verb, which is
usually formed by adding -ed or -d to the verb’s root
(e.g., walked, cleaned, typed, perambulated, jumped,
laughed, sautéed) although English does have quite a
few verbs that have irregular past participles (e.g.,
done, said, gone, known, won, thought, felt, eaten).
When to use Present Perfect Tense?
1. We use the Present Perfect Tense to describe
actions that occurred in the past but are still relevant
to the present.
Example
Rani has broken her arm. (She broke it in the past and
can’t use her arm now.)

2. We use the Present Perfect Tense to describe

an action that started in the past but is still happening
on a regular or habitual basis (like the present
simple).
Example
The girls have played tennis at the club since 2005.
(They started to play tennis there in 2005 and still
play there today. This does not mean they are playing
tennis at the moment.)
3. We use the Present Perfect Tense to describe
actions that were repeated several times in the past.
Example
I‘ve already made several calls. (Up until now)

A. Application
