Step 2: Answers

- Base on the first documents, Answer the following questions:

What is Linguistics according to Chomsky and what is the
relation with the sociolinguistics' study object?
according to Chomsky's linguistics is concerned primarily with an ideal
speaker–listener, in a completely homogeneous speech-community, who
knows its language perfectly and is unaffected by such grammatically
irrelevant conditions as memory limitations, distractions, shifts of
attention and interest, and errors (random or characteristic) in applying
his knowledge of the language in actual performance and The
relationship it has with the object of study of sociolinguistics is that
sociolinguistics studies the social structure, which is responsible for
seeing the factors of Socio-economic level, Age, Sex, Level of formal
education, etc ... and the linguistic structure is the one that takes care
of the factors of the sender, receiver, language, message and context.
How does a language become a source of social and political
power?
it becomes as it becomes a linguistic variation where they can share,
debate their thoughts in social, geographical, cultural relationships, etc.
What is "a variation"? Define the types of variation.
A variation is the possibility that gives a person to express themselves in
different ways and in different factors such as internal and external,
there are at least two basically different kinds of variation.

 One is of the kind (ng) with its variants [º] or [n], or (Th) with its
variants [θ], [t], or [f], as in with its variants [º] or [n], or (Th)
with its variants [θ], [t], or [f], as in with pronounced as with, wit,
or wif. In this first case the concern is with which quite clearly
distinct variant is used, with, of course, the possibility of Ø, and
the zero
 The other kind of variation is the kind you find above in (e): [*]
1 ... [*] n, when it is the quantity of nasalization, rather than its
presence or absence, which is important.
Why is it important to carry out Socio - linguistics studies?
Sociolinguistic studies are important because sociolinguistics is an
attempt to find correlations between social structure and linguistic
structure and to observe any changes that occur.
What is ‘double articulation? Give 1 example.
Double articulation is an important feature of the linguistic sign and a
characteristic of all languages. Because thanks to it we can form words
and messages from words, in order to communicate verbally, it also
allows us to differentiate verbal communication from non-verbal
communication, it is articulated in two levels, that of meanings
(monemes) and that of signifiers (phonemes)
Explanation:
Monemes: They are reused in infinite messages without changing their
shape or changing their meaning ...

Example:
I write / on / the / computer / sitting / in / the / chair.

This sentence would therefore be made up of reusable monemes in

other messages:
I write / at / home / locked / in / the / study.
It can be seen that three same monemes are repeated in the two
sentences with the same meaning and the same form.
Phonemes: they are units that are joined together to form signs and
words, generally languages have 20 to 30 phonemes in Spanish there
are only 22 phonemes
Example:
t/a/b/l/e
m/a/s/s
m/u/l/e
NOTE: phonemes are emitted by sounds. In writing they are
represented by letters.
What is Language, Dialect and Social Dialects? Give one example
of
Their relation per Group.

A language or language is a verbal or gestural communication system,

typical of a human society. Each language is subdivided into dialects,

but it is currently doubted that there is a valid criterion to make such a

division in an objective and safe way; The dialect is the variety of a

language, it has phonetic, lexical and grammatical modalities that are

specialized according to the region to which the speakers belong; a

social dialect is a variety of language used by a certain social group or

class that allows them to communicate with each other and with others

Example:

Indo-European (language)

- Afro-Asian (language)

- Urálicas (tongue)

- French (language)

- English (language)

- Spanish (language)

- Italian Piedmontese (dialect)

- Mandarin Chinese (dialect)

- Taiwanese Chinese (dialect)
