Sun rules day, Moon rules night, Jupiter and Venus are good, Saturn and Mars are bad, but these
are so-held. For the Sun is not Predominator during day, nor is the Moon during night, when the
Lightbringer is inoperative, while the other Light is operative. For the favorably placed malefics
become moderately benefic, and the unfavorably placed benefics become moderately malefic.

A very few considerations would make it apparent to all that a certain power emanating from the
eternal ethereal substance is dispersed through and permeates the whole region about the Earth,
which throughout is subject to change, since, of the primary sublunar elements, fire and air are
encompassed and changed by the motions in the ether and in turn encompass and change all else,
earth and water and the plants and animals therein.

The Sun together with the ambient is always in some way affecting everything on Earth, not only
by the changes that accompany the seasons of the years that bring about generation of animals,
the productiveness of plants, the flowing of rivers, the change of bodies, but also daily furnishing
heat, moisture, dryness and cold in regular order and in correspondence with its position relative
to the zenith.

The Moon as the heavenly body nearest the Earth, bestows its influence most abundantly upon
mundane things, for most of them, animate or inanimate, are sympathetic with it, and change in
company with it, the rivers increase and diminish their streams with its light, the seas turn their
own tides with its rising and setting, and plants and animals in whole or in some part increase or
decrease with it.

The zodiac and the other five wandering stars often signify hot, windy and snowy conditions of
the air, and mundane matters are affected accordingly. All assemblies, configurations, exchanges
of rays and admixtures of qualities bring about many complicated changes. If these matters be so
regarded, all would judge it follow that not only must things already compounded be affected in
some way by the motion of the heavenly bodies, but likewise the germination and fruition of the
seed must be moulded and conformed to the quality proper to the heavens at the time. Investigate
the uniform and circular motions of the Seven Stars using eccentrics and epicycles.
III. Saturn, Jupiter and Sun rejoice by day, Mars, Venus and Moon rejoice by night, and Mercury
rejoices by day and by night, for it belongs to the diurnal sect by day, and to the nocturnal sect by
night. Diurnal stars rejoice with diurnal images, nocturnal stars rejoice with nocturnal images.

Cancer Rising, Moon with Cancer, Sun with Leo, Mercury with Virgo, Venus with Libra, Mars
with Scorpio, Jupiter with Sagittarius, Saturn with Capricorn, Saturn with Aquarius, Jupiter with
Pisces, Mars with Aries, Venus with Taurus, Mercury with Gemini. Examine the standard of the
cosmic placements with universals, nativities and initiations.

Domiciles, exaltations, winds, bounds and configurations control universal harmony. Moon with
the moistening Crab, Sun with the royal Lion, and the five stars with the order of the seven-zone,
male and female, they rule over the Earth.

Saturn is exalted with Libra and depressed with Aries

Jupiter is exalted with Cancer and depressed with Capricorn
Mars is exalted with Capricorn and depressed with Cancer
Sun is exalted with Aries and depressed with Libra
Venus is exalted with Pisces and depressed with Virgo
Mercury is exalted with Virgo and depressed with Pisces
Moon is exalted with Taurus and depressed with Scorpio

Stars with their domiciles, exaltations and bounds are always good, when benefic, they are better,
when malefic, they are less bad. Those who have many favorable placements have distinguished
nativities, for they approach divinity.

Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces - Venus, Mars, Moon - West Wind

Leo, Sagittarius, Aries - Sun, Jupiter, Saturn - North Wind
Virgo, Capricorn, Taurus - Venus, Moon, Mars - South Wind
Libra, Aquarius, Gemini - Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter - East Wind

Stars control the four divine winds. They become good whenever the houserulers are ascending,
or are post-ascending and favorably placed. The first ruler is diurnal, the second is nocturnal, and
the third is cooperating. Changeover of the whole trigon occurs with the completion of the rising
time and the recurrence years of the predominating houseruler handing over to the other ruler.

All wandering and non-wandering stars are mighty when rising from under the beams of the Sun,
but when they are setting, they lose strength. Similarly, swift moving stars are better, while those
retreating are worse. Additionally, the morning rising stars are masculine and better, while those
evening rising are feminine and worse. Examine the placements with domiciles and bounds.

the outcomes. The pre-ascending images indicate the past. The post-ascending images give signs

Stars that precede are superior to those that follow, thus it is better for benefics to be on the right
of malefics, and we say this for all assemblies, configurations and like-principles. In every case it
is necessary to examine the assemblies and configurations with degree, for they become stronger
the closer they are to their figures. Like-principles of daylight, rising times and houserulers cause
harmonious affinity, but it will be very weak if the images are turned away.

VI. It will be necessary to accurately measure the distances between powerful stars, then measure
the same or reverse from the Hour-Marker, in order that, whatever relations the stars bear to each
other, the Hour-Marker may bear to the Lots, and that they may be as they were Hour-Markers.

The Lot of Fortune - Sun to Moon, reverse by night

The Lot of Daimon - Moon to Sun, reverse by night
The Lot of Accusation - Saturn to Mars, reverse by night
The Lot of Father - Sun to Jupiter, reverse by night
The Lot of Mother - Venus to Moon, reverse by night
The Lot of Siblings - Saturn to Jupiter, reverse by night
The Lot of Affairs - Jupiter to Venus, reverse by night
The Lot of Children - Jupiter to Saturn, reverse by night

VII. And configurations are very strong within three degrees, for then the gods strike each other
with their rays. Thus each star sends seven rays to seven images. And Saturn and Mars are very
bad with presence within three degrees and with tetragon and diameter rays, while Jupiter and
Venus intervene with presence and all rays. The Sun and the Moon, if they are not Predominator,
also destroy with presence, tetragon and diameter in the Length of Life.

Hour-Marker, the tetragon and the diameter command great powers. Stars are most powerful by
exactly rising, culminating, setting and anti-culminating within the ascending images. Benefics
ascending the degrees make distinguished nativities and good initiations, but unfavorably placed
malefics cause reversals and ruin.

Investigate the Sun and the Moon and the familiarity of the attendant stars. When both Lights are
with ascending masculine images, with the Lightbringer attended, being present or exchanging
rays within three degrees with the five stars, the nativities will be royal. And if the guardians are
themselves ascending the degrees, the nativities will be world-ruling.

Every kind of honour is divined from the nature of attending stars, for Saturn brings about power
based on wealth and amassing of treasure, Jupiter and Venus through favours, gifts, honours and
rulership, Mars through governorship, victories and fears of subordinates, and Mercury through
intelligence, education and management of affairs.

Benefics with the Ascending Node cause good fortune, malefics indicate misfortune. The images
and the stars cause the beginning of matters, the houserulers cause the end of matters. When the
Moon is ascending while the domicile ruler is inoperative, it indicates brilliant beginning and bad
end, and we say this for both nativities and initiations.
If Jupiter and Venus are favorably placed, their help is increased, if they are unfavorably placed,
their help is decreased. Saturn and Mars are always bad, and they are better ascending only when
exceptionally placed. They are exceedingly bad for the respective image when ascending without
benefic testimony, and when they are rising and culminating with undistinguished nativities, they
make destitutes, wicked, disabled, and those who are short-lived.

If there are five inoperative stars at the nativity, but if the Master of the Nativity is ascending to
the degree with Fortune and Daimon, with his domicile and bound, one will be a king. If there
are five operative stars, but if the Lots are pre-ascending with the malefics, the nativity is judged
unviable. Multiply the degrees and fractions of the Hour-Marker, the Seven Stars and the Lots by
twelve from the beginning of the images to find the dodekatemoria, the secret places of the stars.

Investigate the preceding New or Full Moon, the phase of the Moon, the placement of the Moon,
the solar and lunar eclipses. If the Moon is without the presence or configuration of another star,
it is void of course, and nativities and initiations are without advancement. Observe the positions
of Sun and Moon at New and Full Moon, and their separations with respect to the ascensions. On
this the whole forecast depends. The preceding New or Full Moon or the Moon favorably placed
make good nativities and initiations. Moon is moistening with the first quarter, heating with the
second quarter, drying with the third quarter, and cooling with the fourth quarter.

At every nativity, it will be necessary to examine the third, the seventh and the fortieth day of the
Moon using the second, the fourth and the seventh image from the Moon. If three of the images
are operative and beheld by benefics, they make distinguished nativities. If two of the images are
inoperative and beheld by malefics, they make undistinguished nativities. If there is admixture of
benefic and malefic testimony, they cause moderate fortune.

One must examine the schemata. Stars exalted with the assemblies of domicile rulers cause good
nativities and initiations. Mars, Sun and Moon trigon from each other make highly intelligent and
very wealthy nativities, those who are terrors to their enemies. Ruler of I with II and ruler of II
with I make those who earn wealth without much effort, for the exchanges of good domiciles are
favorable. Stars ascending with their domiciles and exaltations indicate fortunate nativities. Stars
pre-ascending and post-ascending the Sun and the Moon indicate distinguished nativities.

The gods send signs to all nations, but they are not interpret the same for the different lands, for
one they cause hot weather, for another they give cold weather, and for third they give temperate
weather. In the same way, the considerations of weather, rising times and daylight become less
discernible and causative in the equatorial zones, and naturally reversed for the southern lands.

The effects of the stars are vigorous when ascending from Sun, Moon, Fortune and Daimon, and
they are especially powerful, for good or bad, whenever they are ascending with Fortune. When
bright non-wandering stars of benefic nature are rising alongside the Hour-Marker, and with the
Seven, they make distinguished nativities and good initiations. Intervals of one and three degrees
are powerful, of seven and fifteen moderately powerful, and those up to thirty are effective.

Such, then, are the observations of the effects of the stars as made by our predecessors. Let us
now proceed with universals.
Book II - Universals

I. My King, each country and city is assigned to the zodiac, this being the Hour-Marker with the
foundation, and the Midheaven of the kings when the time is not discovered. Those who live far
south under the Sun are dark-skinned, with thick, woolly hair, contracted in form and shrunken
in stature, of fiery nature. Those who live far north under the Moon are with white complexion,
straight hair, tall and well-nourished, of cold nature. Those who live in the temperate regions are
medium in colouring, with moderate stature, living together and civilized, of temperate nature.

The southernmost of them are more intelligent and inventive, better versed in the knowledge of
divine matters because their zenith is close to the zodiac and cycles of the stars. But even if the
climates of regions are hot, cold or temperate, certain areas and countries have special peculiarity
by reason of their situation, height, lowness and adjacency, thus making some inclined towards
horsemanship because of plain country, or towards seafaring because they live close to the sea.

One would discover the special traits in each arising from the natural familiarity of the particular
regions in relation to the zodiac and the wandering stars. These traits would be found generally
present, but not with every nativity.

II. Examine the eclipses of Sun and Moon, for all countries and cities will be affected, especially
if the Hour-Marker of the foundation and the Midheaven of the kings happens to coincide. One
must measure the time from the rising to the setting, and from the setting to the rising, and divide
each into twelve to find the hours of day and the hours of night. The time of the beginning causes
the year or month of the effects, and they pass over with the hour of purification. One must then
examine the intensification of events using the ingresses of the wandering stars.

III. Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Gemini cause the events to concern the human race.
Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Aries and Taurus cause earthquakes. Leo, Sagittarius and Aries signify
changes in the royal court. Cancer and Capricorn affect ships, while Aquarius and Pisces affect
rivers. Cancer causes distress and affliction of amphibians, Leo of lions, Virgo of birds, Libra of
economies, Scorpio of reptiles, Sagittarius of horses, Capricorn of goats, Pisces of fish, Aries of
sheep and Taurus of cattle. Capricorn inspires conspiracies. Investigate the images that are rising
alongside the eclipse, human, watery, terrestrial, quadrupedal, creeping, winged, royal, nautical,
enigmatic and the like. In the east, they indicate crops, youth and foundations. In the south, they
indicate sacred rites, middle age and kings. In the west, they indicate change of customs, old age
and those who have passed away. Investigate the bound houseruler of the eclipse.

Saturn assuming rulership causes destruction by coldness, long illness, consumptions, withering,
disturbances caused by fluids, rheumatisms, and quartan fevers, exile, destitution, imprisonment,
mourning, fears and deaths, especially amongst those advanced in age, scarcity of dumb animals
that are of usage to men, bodily destruction, fearful cold, freezing, misty, pestilential, corruption
of air, clouds, gloom, multitudes of destructive snowstorms, abundance of harmful reptiles, and
storms, the wreck of fleets, disastrous voyages, scarcity and death of fish, high and ebb tides of
the seas, excessive floods and pollution of rivers, and of crops, want, scarcity and loss, especially
of those grown for necessary uses, through worms, locusts, floods, cloud-bursts, hail and the like,
so that famine and destruction of men thereby result.
Jupiter assuming rulership causes increase in general, fame and prosperity of men, an abundance,
peaceful existence, the increase of necessities of life, bodily and mental health, benefits and gifts
from rulers, increase, greatness and magnanimity of the kings, the cause of happiness, multitude
and abundance of dumb animals that are useful to men, and the diminution and destruction of the
opposite kind, temperate and healthy air, windy, moist, favorable to the growth of what the earth
bears, fortunate sailing of fleets, moderate rising of rivers, abundance of crops and the like.

Mars assuming rulership causes destruction through dryness, wars amongst nations, civil faction,
captivity, enslavement, uprisings, the wrath of leaders, sudden deaths arising from such causes,
fevers, tertian agues, the raising of blood, swift and violent deaths, especially in the prime of life,
violence, assaults, lawlessness, arson, murder, robbery or piracy, hot weather, warm, pestilential
and withering winds, lightnings, hurricanes, drought, the sudden shipwreck of fleets through the
changeable winds, lightnings or the like, failure of the water of rivers, the drying up of springs,
the tainting of potable waters, scarcity and loss of dumb animals and things that grow from earth,
loss of crops by drying as the result of hot weather, or by locusts, or by the beating of the winds,
or by burning in places of storage.

Venus assuming rulership causes increase, fame, honour, happiness, abundance, happy marriage,
many children, satisfaction in every mutual relationship, the increase of property, a neat and well
conducted manner of life, paying honour to those things which are to be revered, the cause of
bodily health, alliances with the leaders, the elegance of the rulers, temperate air, moist and very
nourishing winds, good and clear weather, generous fertilizing waters, fortunate sailing of fleets,
successes, full rising of rivers, abundance of useful animals, good yields of fruits and profit.

Mercury assuming rulership causes changes, stimulating events, robberies, thefts, piracy, assault,
unsuccessful voyages with malefics, occasional diseases of dryness, by quotidian agues, coughs,
raising and consumption, events concerning priesthood, worship, royal revenues, changes in the
customs and laws, irregular, fierce and changeable winds, thunders, hurricanes, earthquakes and
chasms in the earth, lightning, destruction of useful animals and plants, diminishment of waters
when setting, and filling of waters when rising.

IV. Observe the colours of eclipses. If they cover the Sun or the Moon, or the region surrounding
them, the predicted events affect most of the parts of the countries, but partially, they only affect
those parts against which the appearances are inclined.

Black - Saturn
White - Jupiter
Red - Mars
Yellow - Venus
Varied - Mercury

The comets which appear either at the time of eclipses or else, the so-called beams, trumpets, jars
and the like naturally produce effects like Mars and Mercury, hot weather, disturbed conditions,
wars, and the accompaniments of these, and they show through the parts of the zodiac in which
their heads appear and through the directions in which the shapes of their tails point the regions
upon which the misfortunes are signified.

Through the formations, as it were, of their head they indicate the kind of the event and the class
upon which the misfortune will take effect, through the time which they last, the duration of the
events, and through their direction likewise their beginning, for in general their appearance in the
east betokens rapidly approaching events, and in the west those that approach more slowly.

Arctic zones have cold winter and cool summer with precipitation coming mostly in the form of
snow. Temperate zones have four seasons with unpredictable weather. The tropical zone has hot
weather all year around with rainy summer and dry winter. Tropical, dry, temperate, continental
and polar climates contain different divisions. Rainforests signify high rainfall and temperatures.
Monsoons indicate rainfall. Tropical savannas cause moderate temperature and humidity. Humid
subtropical lands indicate winter rainfall from large storms caused by the west wind and summer
rainfall from thunderstorms and the occasional tropical cyclones. Humid continental lands have
variable weather patterns and large seasonal temperature variance. Oceanic lands have plentiful
precipitation throughout the year. The Mediterranean has hot and dry summer and cold and moist
winter. Steppes have high variation of temperatures. Subarctic lands have very cold weather and
little precipitation. Tundras have permafrost. Polar lands are covered with ice. Deserts have little
precipitation, extremely low humidity and high variation of diurnal and nocturnal temperatures.

Examine the New and Full Moon most nearly preceding each of the tropics, and from these make
judgement of the seasons. Investigate assemblies, configurations and admixtures of qualities with
the houserulers. Make judgement of the months from the following assemblies and diameters of
the Sun and the Moon, and intensifications and relaxations of the weather from their revolutions
throughout the zodiac, with the nature of every attending star being blended.

Day by day intensifications of the weather are indicated when powerful non-wandering stars are
rising from under the beams. Hour by hour intensifications and relaxations of the weather vary in
response to the placements of the stars, for changes in the air are brought at the appearance of the
ascending Lights, in the direction of those winds towards which the latitude of the Moon is found
to be inclining. Investigate the temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation of every region and
make clear judgement of the weather.
VI. Observe the rising of the Sun to determine the weather by day, and the setting of the Sun to
determine the weather at night. For whenever the Sun rises or sets clear, unobscured, steady, and
unclouded, it indicates fine weather, but if its disk is varied or reddish, or sends out reddish rays,
either outwardly or circling back upon itself, or parheliac clouds, or yellowish cloud formations
while emitting dark rays, it indicates storms and rain.

Observe the course of the Moon three days before and three days after assemblies, tetragons and
diameters of the Lights. For when it appears thin and clear and has nothing around it, it indicates
clear weather. If it is thin and reddish, and the whole disk of the illuminated part is distinct and a
little shaky, it causes winds, in that direction in which it is particularly inclined. If it is observed
to be dark, or pale, and thick, it indicates storms and rains. In clear weather, whenever the stars
become faint while the Moon is below the horizon, they indicate storms.

Observe the halos around the Moon. For whenever there is one that is clear and gradually fading,
it indicates fine weather. If there are two or three, they indicate storms. If they are yellowish and
broken, they indicate storms accompanied by heavy winds. If they are thick and misty, they give
snowstorms, and the more of them, the more severe the storms. And the halos that gather around
the stars, both wandering and non-wandering stars, indicate what is appropriate to their colours.

Observe the colours and brightness of the non-wandering stars which are close together in some
number. For whenever they appear brighter and larger beyond their customary appearance, they
indicate the winds that blow from their own region. When in a clear sky, the star clusters appear
dim, invisible, or thickened, they indicate rain, but if they are clear and constantly twinkle, they
indicate heavy winds. Shooting stars, coming from one direction, indicate winds, from opposite
directions, an instability of winds, and from all four directions, storms of all kinds.

Comets generally foretell droughts and winds, and the greater the number of parts that are found
with their heads and the greater their sizes, the more severe the winds. Clouds resembling tufts of
wool indicate storms. In clear weather, appearance of fine clouds causes cold weather. Rainbows
indicate storms after clear weather and clear weather after storms.

VII. Examine the New and Full Moon most nearly preceding each of the tropics, and from these
make judgement of the universals. Investigate the ascending images, assemblies, configurations
and admixtures of qualities with the houserulers. Make judgement of months from the following
assemblies and diameters of the Sun and the Moon, and intensifications and relaxations of events
from the ingresses upon the ascending images of the New and Full Moon.

The science of the stars has granted us knowledge of divine matters, magic, divination, teaching,
meteorology, mathematics, alchemy and medicine, thus of the sowing of seed, hunting, fishing,
navigation, military strategy, architecture, construction, literature, philosophy and the arts. Those
who envy and slander this truth, will be cursed with their ignorance and weakness, while those
who worship this truth, will be blessed and mighty.

Unexpected good often grieves men as bad, and unexpected bad causes the greatest grief to those
who have not trained their minds in advance. The gods allowed us to attend to distant events as
present, and they initiated us in determination and peace. Let us now proceed with nativities.
Book III - Nativities

I. My King, before all investigate the Length of Life, for it is ridiculous to attach predictions for
one who by the constitution of the years of his life will never attain the time of the predicted
events. It will be necessary to examine the Hour-Marker, the Sun, the Moon, the Lot of Fortune,
the Lot of Accusation, the preceding New or Full Moon and the Master of the Nativity. Make a
judgement of life and distinction with the seven placements, whether favorable or unfavorable.

In all nativities, the Lightbringer is Predominator if it is operative.

If it is not, the other Light is Predominator if it is operative.
If both Lights are inoperative, the Hour-Marker is Predominator.

As soon as you determine the Releaser, look at the degrees and rays of the killing stars and from
the rising times find the evident length of life. The killing degrees and rays are the presence,
tetragon and diameter of Saturn, Mars, Sun and Moon. If Jupiter and Venus intervene with their
presence and rays in proximity to the killing degrees, they repudiate the previous testimony. And
Mercury neither destroys nor intervenes with its presence and rays.

For short-lived nativities, the nearest bound, degree or ray of a bad star will indicate the length of
life. For long-lived nativities, one must carefully examine the bounds of bad and inoperative stars
following the 90th degree, and the greater recurrence years of the Master of the Nativity. Release
the Predominator through the bounds, giving the year for every ascensional degree. Examine the
bound rulers, whether benefic or malefic, and whether favorably placed or unfavorably placed.

Investigate the presence and rays of the stars. The good and operative stars are indicative of good
health and elevation, while the bad and inoperative stars are indicative of infirmities, accusations
and eventually the end of life, which is revealed by the vitality and eminence of the nativity. The
vital sector derived from the rising times forecasts the limit of the entire length of life. Then if it
allots the living times, it also seems to control the auspicious and inauspicious times.

One must take into account the seven keys and the general signs of the biological systems. The
distance from which the good stars intervene depends on the combined biological indications.
And if the health indications are poor, the good gods will not intervene at all, especially with the
chronocratorship of inoperative and bad stars. Accusation indicates the illness and primary cause
of death, but Fortune also takes that role when unfavorably placed.

And if the stars or images which indicate infirmity are present, tetragon and diameter with Saturn
and Mars, the disease which befalls the nativity will be untreatable. But if Jupiter and Venus are
present and configured, the native can be cured by medicine and by the help of the gods. In every
case it is necessary to examine the appearance and the conception, for the difference of a degree
can change an unviable nativity to a long-lived one.

One must understand that the length may always be cut prematurely if the native takes part in the
threatening universals. Thus one must investigate the universal indication of the given area of the
nativity. One needs to work with the signs of the gods and with empirical precision, going from a
chronocrator to a chronocrator, delineating all important events in succession.
Investigate the Master of the Nativity, the bound houseruler of the Predominator. The beginning,
the main, the end, the measurement standard of the whole nativity is the Master. It makes clear
what kind of person the native will be, what kind of livelihood he will have, what appearance or
health one will have, and all the things that will accompany him in life. Without this star nothing,
neither occupation nor advancement, will come to anyone.

When the Lightbringer is ascending, exalted and attended by the benefics, it will allot the greater
recurrence years. When the Master of the Nativity is ascending and favorably placed, it will allot
the greater recurrence years, but when it is unfavorably placed, it will allot the recurrence years.

When the Hour-Marker, the Sun and the Moon become masculine and ruled by masculine stars,
men are born, and when they become feminine and ruled by feminine stars, women are born. If
the dodekatemoria of the Hour-Marker, the Sun and the Moon are masculine, men are born.

If the Hour-Marker and the Lights are with quadrupedal images, and the malefics are ascending
to the degree, the nativity will have congenital disorders, but if Jupiter and Venus are configured
to the Hour-Marker, they make nativities viable of livelihood. In such cases, the Lot of Fortune
will indicate the infirmity. Cancer and Scorpio cause polymelia. Cancer, Pisces and Taurus cause
aplasia. Saturn, Venus and Mercury cause sexual development disorders. But if the Hour-Marker
and the Lights are with human images and rising alongside, they make the nativity belong to one
of the human race, healthy and intelligent.

Make judgement of appearance with the Hour-Marker, the Moon and the Master of the Nativity.
Changeable images indicate nativities fitted for dealing with the people, fond of turbulence and
political activity, glory-seeking, attentive to the gods, noble, mobile, inquisitive, inventive, good
at conjecture, and fitted for divination. Solid images signify just nativities, unaffected by flattery,
persistent, firm, intelligent, patient, industrious, stern, self-controlled, tenacious of grudges,
extortionate, contentious, ambitious, factious, grasping, hard, and inflexible. Double-bodied
images indicate complex nativities, changeable, very hard to apprehend, light, unstable, fickle,
amorous, versatile, fond of music, lazy, easily acquisitive, and prone to change their minds.

In every case it is necessary to investigate the Master of the Nativity, and the bound houseruler
of the preceding New or Full Moon, and to carefully consider the admixture.

Saturn favorably placed makes lovers of the body, strong-minded, deep thinkers, austere men, of
single purpose, labourious, dictatorial, ready to punish, lovers of property, avaricious, violent,

Saturn and Mercury favorably placed make meddlers, inquisitive, inquirers into matters of law
and custom, fond of the art of medicine, mystics, partakers in concealed and secret rites, miracle-
workers, cheaters, living only for the day, facile, able to direct business, shrewd, bitter, accurate,
sober, friendly, fond of practical affairs, and capable of gaining their ends. Unfavorably placed,
they make frivolous talkers, malignant men, with no pity in their souls, given to toil, hating their
own kin, fond of torment, gloomy, night-prowlers, layers of ambushes, traitors, unsympathetic,
thieves, magicians, poisoners, forgers, unscrupulous, unfortunate, and usually unsuccessful.

Jupiter favorably placed makes those who are magnanimous, generous, god-fearing, honourable,
pleasure-loving, kind, magnificent, liberal, just, high-minded, dignified, minding their own
business, compassionate, fond of discussion, beneficent, affectionate, and with qualities of
leadership. Unfavorably placed, it makes those with poorer judgement, prodigality, superstition,

quickly changeable, readily changing their minds, unstable, headstrong, untrustworthy, of poor
judgement, unfeeling, excitable, active, querulous, prodigal, gossipy, uneven, and easily excited.

Jupiter and Venus favorably placed make those who are pure and pleasure-loving, lovers of the
beautiful, of children, of spectacles, and of the arts, singers, fond of those who reared them, of
good character, beneficent, compassionate, guileless, religious, prone to athletic training, fond of
competition, wise, affectionate, charming in a dignified way, magnanimous, fair, charitable, fond
of learning, of good judgement, moderate and decorous in matters of love, fond of their kinsfolk,
pious, just, ambitious, seekers after glory, and in general gentlemanly. Unfavorably placed, they
make those who are luxurious, soft-livers, effeminate, fond of dance, lavish in expenditure, evil
in relations with women, erotic, lascivious, lecherous, slanderous, adulterous, fond of ornament,
soft, lazy, profligate, given to fault-finding, passionate, adorners of their persons, effeminate,

those who are prone to change their minds, foolish rogues, witless, sinful, liars, undiscriminating,
unstable, undependable, avaricious, unjust, unsteady in judgement, and inclined to evil deeds.

And if one is not present at the nativity, but determines the rising image and the placement of the
stars by appearance, he should immediately inquire the degree of the Hour-Marker. Investigate
the conception. Let the degree of the Moon at the nativity be the Hour-Marker at the conception,
and let the Hour-Marker at the nativity be the degree of the Moon at the conception.

When the Moon is rising at the Hour-Marker, the birth is intermediate of 273 days and 8 hours. If
the Moon is above the horizon, the time will be less. If the Moon is below the horizon, the time
will be more. Give one day for every 13.17 degrees of distance. When the Moon is unfavorably
placed at the nativity, it will be necessary to subtract 27 days and 8 hours, or more proportionate
to the bad influence. Thus make a scientific beginning, and fashion a forecast of the end.

Sun and Father inoperative and beheld by malefics, while Fortune is masculine, indicate that the
father will predecease the mother. Moon and Mother inoperative and beheld by malefics, while
Fortune is feminine, signify that the mother will predecease the father. When the Sun and Jupiter
are ascending, they cause good livelihood for the father, and the Moon and Venus cause the same
for the mother. Conversely, if they are inoperative, they make them weak and low, or foreigners,
or estranged from their children. Saturn and Mars anti-culminating cause misfortune for parents,
or estrangement, while Jupiter and Venus indicate good fortune.

If the Lot of the Father is allotted to Leo, Sagittarius or Aries with the configurations of benefics,
it makes him a leader of the populace. If one would busy himself with further inquiries about the
details concerning individuals, let him take the Lot as the Hour-Marker, and the image upon the
tenth as action, and the diametrical image as affairs, and the anti-culminating image as death, and
let him distinguish the Lots and the rest of the dodekatopos in the same fashion.

Jupiter, Venus and Mercury operative and favorably placed give siblings and children, especially
with fertile images. From the Lot of Siblings, determine the number, gender, health and rank of
siblings. Infertile images do not indicate siblings, semi-infertile indicate one, semi-fertile indicate
two, fertile images indicate three siblings. Houserulers with fertile images give siblings.

Benefics give siblings, malefics signify childlessness, or they cause grief from siblings. Examine
the predominating gender of the images and houserulers, and make your judgement based on the
number. Preponderance of double-bodied images cause multiple births. Saturn destroys the elder
siblings, Mars destroys the middleborn, Mercury destroys the youngest with malefics. Saturn and
Mars rising, culminating and setting without benefic testimony cause the destruction of siblings.

Investigate the nature of attending stars. Fortune and the domicile ruler favorably placed make
successful nativities, Saturn through property, agriculture and shipping ventures, Jupiter through
fiduciary relationships, guardianship and priesthoods, Mars through governorship and military
operations, Venus through friends, gifts and women, and Mercury through eloquence and trade.

Stars that predominate action are ascending, houseruler of the X, Master of the Nativity, and with
the Lot of Fortune. When Mars, Venus and Mercury happen to be placed contrariwise, examine
the one that is morning rising. It will be necessary to observe the order of the predomination.

Mars predominating makes craftsmen, masons, quarrymen, carpenters, shipbuilders, blacksmiths,

miners, woodcutters, farmers, jewellers and soldiers
With Saturn - sailors, cooks, embalmers
With Jupiter - soldiers, commanders, governors, friends with the great

Mars and Venus predominating make dyers, jewellers, farmers, pharmacists and physicians
With Saturn - attendants of sacred animals and mysteries, embalmers, attendants of bloody rites
With Jupiter - frequenters of temples, interpreters of omens, supervisors of women and affairs

Mars and Mercury predominating make physicians, surgeons, sculptors, commanders, tacticians,
wrestlers, criminals, adulterers, wrongdoers and forgers
With Saturn - murderers, criminals, terrorists

Examine the changeable, terrestrial, watery, human, eloquent, judicial, fertile, royal, servile and
the like, and make judgement of action. When the rulers of the action are favorably placed, they
make great, glorious, profitable, unerring and gracious occupations, but if the malefics overcome
them, they make mean, inglorious, profitless and fallible occupations. When Saturn and Mars are
diametrical from the rulers of action, they bring utter ruin of action during the chronocratorship.

The topic of affairs is to be examined from the Lot of Affairs, the VII and Venus. When they and
the domicile rulers happen to be with changeable, double-bodied and passionate images, and also
ascending from Mars, they cause many affairs. Benefics cause good marriages. Saturn and Mars
when unfavorably placed indicate divorces, and they make widowers with incomplete images.

The number, gender, health and rank of children is judged similarly to the topic of siblings, but
one should take Children and the X as rulers of the matter. If the Lot and the domicile ruler are in
harmony with the Hour-Marker and the Lot of Fortune, the children will be dear to their parents,
they will be attractive, and inherit the patrimony, but if they are turned away or diametrical, they
will be quarrelsome, trouble-makers, injurious and will not inherit the patrimony. When Jupiter,
Venus and Mercury are harmoniously configured with each other, they cause brotherly affection
and mutual respect amongst the children, but if they are turned away or diametrical, the children
will be quarrelsome and scheming.

Investigate friendship from Daimon and the XI, servants from Fortune and the VI, enemies from
Accusation and the XII. Daimon and the XI with Cancer and Pisces cause many associations and
social nativities. Eloquent images make associations with intelligent persons. Royal images make
friendships with the great. Jupiter favorably placed makes friendships with kings, Venus with the
distinguished women, Mercury with intelligent men, and with rascals when present with Scorpio.

Concerning partnership and affairs, examine the rising images, the Sun and the Moon of the two
nativities. If they share an affinity by being of the same wind, they make good relationship, as do
the images with hexagon. Like-engirding and like-ascending images are harmonious, but weak if
they happen to be turned away. If the Hour-Marker, Sun and Moon are turned away, tetragon and
diametrical from each other, they cause discord, separation and enmity.

Examine the placements of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury, for they also contribute or
hinder the synastry. Saturn and Mars hinder through disagreement and hatred, Jupiter and Venus
contribute through agreement and unity, and Mercury either helps or hinders communication.

Sun and Moon pre-ascending cause travel. Fortune pre-ascending causes travel. Mars with the IX
and the IV causes travel. Moon with the VII causes travel. Mars diametrical from the Sun and the
Moon cause travel. Cancer and Pisces cause travel. Nativities which have many placements with
the corresponding countries will naturally be inclined to live there and have successful trade with
those nations, if the houseruler of the VII is benefic with the same direction from the nativity.

If Jupiter and Venus are the rulers of the places which govern travel, and of the Sun and Moon,
they make the journeys not only safe, but also pleasant, for the subjects will be sent on their way
either by the leaders of the country or by the resources of their friends, and favorable conditions
of the weather and abundance of supplies will also aid them. If Mercury is present, profits, gains,
gifts and honours result from this good fortune.

If Saturn and Mars control the Lights and IX, however, and particularly if they are diametrical to
each other, they will make the results useless and involve the subjects in great dangers, through
unfortunate voyages and shipwrecks with watery images, through hard going and desert places
with solid images, through falling from heights and assaults from winds with changeable images,
through piracy, plots and robbery with human images, through attacks of beasts and earthquakes
with terrestrial images, and if Mercury is also present with Saturn and Mars, through the weather,
dangerous accusations, bites of reptiles and other poisonous creatures.

When the IX and the houseruler are favorably placed, the person will benefit from foreign places
and foreigners. And if the houseruler of the IV is better placed, the person will not travel much,
proportionate to the indications of travel. The direction of travel is indicated by the Sun and the
Moon, and by the placements of the chronocrators during indicated travel.

I - East
II - Northeast
III - North-Northeast
IV - North
V - North-Northwest
VI - Northwest
VII - West
VIII - Southwest
IX - South-Southwest
X - South
XI - South-Southeast
XII - Southeast
II. Investigate the method of the dodekatemoria, allotting 129 months to the Predominator, and
the stars following using the sidereal year. If the Hour-Marker is Releaser, the star that follows
will first allot the years. Every star makes a distribution to itself, and the stars following with the
recurrence years as months. The times are divided in the same manner as with the method itself.

and opportunities, suffering and enemies, males or females, many times, once or twice, watery or

III. It will be necessary to examine the trigon rulers of the four winds and to forecast stability and
weakness according to the houserulers in power.
From the trigon rulers of I, V and IX make judgement of life, siblings and fortune.
From the trigon rulers of II, VI and X make judgement of action, children and livelihood.
From the trigon rulers of III, VII and XI make judgement of affairs, success and friendship.
From the trigon rulers of IV, VIII and XII make judgement of parents, household and property.

One must examine the trigon rulers of the Lightbringer, for they indicate eminence when they are
ascending, prosperity when they are post-ascending, and undistinguished nativities when they are
pre-ascending, especially if the Lights and the Lots are inoperative and ascending from malefics.
When the trigon rulers are also favorably placed, the nativities will be greater, but when they are
unfavorably placed with inoperative houserulers, the nativity will be lesser.

Examine the winds of the Seven Stars and the Lots. For when the predominating houserulers are
operative and favorably placed, the first part of life is fortunate, but when the second houserulers
are inoperative and unfavorably placed, the second part of life is unfortunate, especially when the
cooperating houserulers are similarly placed. Changeover occurs at the completion of the rising
times and recurrence years of the predominating houserulers, whichever comes second, for both
have to be completed. Rising times and recurrence years are operative with the sidereal year.
IV. Saturn is operative every 30 and 57 years
Jupiter is operative every 12 and 79 years
Mars is operative every 15 and 66 years
Sun is operative every 19 and 120 years
Venus is operative every 8 and 82 years
Mercury is operative every 20 and 76 years
Moon is operative every 25 and 108 years

The numbers of the images, the stars, their assemblies and configurations are energetic. Sum up
their recurrence years and rising times, and forecast chronocratorship. Let the Moon be with Leo
and Mars be with Taurus, the tetragon will be operative with the 40th year, with the rising times
of Leo and Taurus, with the years of the Moon and rising time of Taurus, with the years of Mars
and rising time of Leo, and with addition of recurrence years, greater recurrence years and rising
times. Assemblies are operative at the completion of the rising times of the images and with the
aforementioned principles.

One star has the possession of years, one action, one stability, one change, and one decline. The
chronocratorships must be understood as the results of the interaction of benefics and malefics.
One must make the type of forecast which is operative in accord with the positions of the stars,
the configurations and the nature of the images. The effects of the Seven Stars are more vigorous
during the recurrence years, the greater recurrence years and the rising times.

V. Release the Dodekatopos and the Seven Stars every sidereal year. One must examine the stars
where the count stops to see if they are operative and to make a judgement about the stars with
configuration, whether good or bad. If there are no present stars, the image and the domicile ruler
are examined in the same way. The transmissions to the domicile rulers are halved in power. The

their goals, to become superior to their enemies, to operate as actors and religious figures, to be
successful in business, and to gain prosperity from words and accounts. When favorably placed,
it makes greater trusts and profits. When unfavorably placed, it causes anxieties and reversals.

Mercury onto Moon is effective, especially if both are favorably placed, for it causes association,
profit in business, success, trusts, achievement of goals, and understanding with the great. When
ascending from malefics, it brings trials, expenses, abuse, threats from the great, imprisonment,
anxieties, and unholy revealing of mysteries.

Moon onto Saturn makes complicated and fluctuating year, grief from the mother, hostility and
disarray in business, change of places, chilling of activities, bodily dangers, fevers, and infirmity

VI. One must examine the operative month, counting from the Sun to the Moon at the nativity,
and the same from the Hour-Marker, and the operative day, counting from the Moon to the Sun
at the nativity, and the same from the Hour-Marker. Examine the stars where the count stops to
see if they are benefic or malefic, operative or inoperative, and make a judgement about the stars
with configuration, whether good or bad. If there are no present stars, the image and the domicile
ruler are examined in the same way. The revolutions with domicile rulers are halved in power.

Saturn - cold, moderately dry, ups and downs, withdrawal, anxiety, falls, disturbances
Jupiter - hot, moderately moist, opportunities, friendship, elevation, wellbeing, harmony
Mars - burning, drying, ups and downs, separation, confusion, unexpected falls, fights
Sun - hot, moderately dry, action, friendship with superiors, success, associations, reputation

nativity, for this is changed to that and that is changed to this by differences in the hours of birth.

VII. Sun and Moon arouse the powers of the images, in the places of benefics, they are good, but

Stars are favorably placed when they are with their exaltations, domiciles, bounds and favorable
houserulers, when they are operative, especially ascending the degrees or rising and culminating,
when they are rejoicing with their sects and images, when rising from the beams and swift, when
they are rising alongside the favorable non-wandering stars, when they have the assembly and
configuration of Jupiter, and when they have the assembly and configuration of Venus.

Stars are unfavorably placed when they are with their depressions and unfavorable houserulers,
when they are inoperative, especially with the VI and the XII, when they are not rejoicing with
their sects and images, when setting under the beams and retreating, whenever they are not rising
alongside favorable non-wandering stars, when they are ascending from Saturn, and when they
are ascending from Mars, both particularly with exchanges of rays and superior placements.

Hurling a stone against some skillfully-crafted bronze object hits only momentarily, but its clang
echoes for quite some time. In the same way, when the stars are chronocrators, they display their
causative effects only briefly, but during the succeeding time, they are active as the clang.

One must make precise judgement of life, appearance, parents, brothers, action, affairs, children,
friendship, enemies and travel. It will be necessary to investigate the chronocratorship and make
precise judgement of the noteworthy events for every year, month and day until the end of life.

1 - Key of the Releaser

2 - Key of the Dodekatemoria
3 - Key of the Winds
4 - Key of the Numbers
5 - Key of the Progressions
6 - Key of the Revolutions
7 - Key of the Seven Stars

One must also understand that the first, the second and the third key have the greater authority to
realize the events. The fourth and the fifth key cooperate or deter. The sixth and the seventh key
influence the degree of increase or decrease in the event. When the distributions of the sevenfold
system are the same, the causal effects become excessive. Let us now proceed with initiations.
Book IV - Initiations

I. My King, at every initiation, it will be necessary to examine the ascending images, particularly
the Hour-Marker and the Midheaven, Sun and Moon. Initiations are successful when benefics are
rising and culminating to the degree, when benefic non-wandering stars are rising alongside, and
with Fortune favorably placed. Know the beginning and the potential, then make the end agree.

I - Initiation
IV - Outcome
VII - Success
X - Action

Initiations are unsuccessful during eclipses, when the Sun is unfavorably placed, when the Moon
is unfavorably placed, when the Moon is void of course, when the domicile ruler of the Moon is
inoperative, and when the dodekatemorion of the Moon falls upon malefics. The New Moon is
unfavorable concerning evident matters, but favorable concerning hidden matters, the Full Moon
with malefics causes quarrels and dissension. Ascending malefics cause many misfortunes.

It will be necessary to examine the rulers of the action, Saturn with property and some transfer of
authority, Jupiter with governorship and any evident matter, Mars with governorship and military
operations, Venus with celebrations and affairs, Mercury with eloquence and trade. If the rulers
of the action are unfavorably placed and inoperative, the matter will be unsuccessful, even with
favorably placed benefics rising and culminating.

Investigate the Hour-Marker, the rising stars and the culminating stars. Changeable images cause
changeable matters, solid images cause unchangeable matters, and double-bodied images cause
ambiguous matters. Short images cause the quickest completions, medium images cause average
completions, and tall images cause the longest completions. Quadrupedal images with malefics,
and the Sun, the Moon and the Lot of Fortune with the VI and the XII cause irrational initiations.

Watery images indicate watery places and activities through or in water, the amphibious images
combine what is of earth and what is of water, the terrestrial images make plains and mountains,
the fertile images cause gathering of crowds, and the infertile images make deserts and inaction.
