Topic 1:
CoViD-19 Vaccine

What I already know: Due to this pandemic experts have been looking for the best
solution in addressing this crises and that solution is in the form of vaccines. Vaccines
shed lights to a crisis that seems hopeless. I have read articles and watch news about it
and I learned that Pfizer and Moderna are the first vaccines that was given the
emergency use authorization. On an article wirtten in statnews.com, I learned that
Pfizer vaccine showed 95% efficacy in preventing symptomatic Covid Infection after
2 dozes, and Moderna Vaccines was 94.1% effective at preventing symptomatic
Covid-19 after the second dose.  But in the case of older people this efficacies are
lower. After this more vaccines have been produced and are now being used
throughout the world. In the Philippines the first vaccine that was administered was
the SINOVAC vaccine from china. Now there are more vaccines have been given the
certifications to be administered here in the Philippines like AstraZeneca  vaccines.

What I want to know more about:

Like any other person I am still skeptical regarding the vaccines that was developed to
counter this virus. The first thing that I want to know is that why are these vaccines
was developed too fast? I heard that vaccines needs a lot of time to be developed.
What are the process of these developments and how they developed it? How does
technology helped the development of these vaccines? With the current situations we
know that viruses have the ability to evolve and now COVID-19 have different
variants. Will these developed vaccines still effective to these variants? Another
questions that us, skeptics are asking, are there any dangerous side effects to these
vaccines? Reports have been published that there are incidents of people that have
been vaccinated are dying which adds to the fear for us skeptics.
Why are still reports of people getting infected with the virus even if they have
completed the two shots needed?

This is important to investigate because:

The importance of investigating this topic is due to its relevance to the current
situation and for the future “crisis/pandemic” that might happen. It is also important
that we know what are the current technologies being used to develop these vaccines
and will these technologies be improved to develop vaccines faster in the future. With
reports of casualties even if they are already been vaccinated, it will affect the
decisions of the masses when it comes to vaccination. It is also important to know if
these vaccines will still be effective if this virus evolves into a different virus. The
most important thing to point is what kind of vaccines are effective to combat this
virus.

Topic 2:
(Un)Social Media

What I already know:

Social media have been unsocializing us when it started to be more of an essential
than necessity. There are more virtual interactions than actual(personal) interactions.
During gatherings, instead of chitchatting with our family or friends we are more
focused on our phones and are just posting about it, but is not really into it. Instead of
helping with integrity, we could often see photos of helpless people but the ones
posting it are not actually helping those people. If indeed they help them it is
becoming more of a bragging than just sharing it. During accidents some people are
quick to post it than helping the victims. We are losing “Social interaction” from
social media.

What I want to know more about:

What are the effects of social media to the people using it when it comes to their
personal relationship with other people. Is social media a “Social Platform”or more of
a platform for social division. Does these social medias affects the development of
globalization or fueling a more complicated society. I also wanted to know if social
media turns out to be a success to what it is intended to be or a failure of its purpose?

This is important to investigate because:

In the talks about globalization and the continuous progress of internet, it is important
to know how and what are the effects of social media to the progress. The idea of
internet is to connect the areas of the world but does it mean losing the “Actual Social
Interactions” from its user? We cannot undo internet, it is already existing, it is on us
to be more aware of it and its underlying bad effects. Social medias are made to make
communications and any other concerns to be acquired instantly but as we all can see,
people have been losing their sense of actual social interaction and prefers to be on a
virtual world with virtual relationships. We are all becoming more of unsocial.

Topic 3:
Agricultural Research

What I already know:

What I know about agriculture is that, it involves growing plants and animals to
be used for something else for consumption. As a person born and raised on
the hinterland, I am familiar with agriculture. I know that there are crops
that grows on specific season. It is important to take note of the months and
its seasons because it will help farmers in growing specific crops and avoid
investing on crops that will not grow on a different season. I also know that
in order to raise livestocks, farmers needs to take note of different materials
and preparations like the land and type of animals to grow on specific area.
Farming is not easy it takes months to prepare for the land to plant the crops
and more months for it to be ready far harvesting. The rule of agriculture is
very important for the production of crops and livestocks needed by people
for consumption. Agriculture is a good investment and if well managed.

What I want to know more about:

What I wanted to know more about agriculture is that are there new ways to grow
crops and livestocks. Poor farmers have less access to reliable and timely market
information for the farmers, absence of supply & demand forecasting, poorly
structured and inefficient supply chains, inadequate storage facilities and shortage of
proper food processing units, large intermediation between the farmers and the
consumers are some of the major causes for the losses. With existing problems how
will these problems directly impacts a farmer’s cash flow and the ability to respond to
unstable market. How could we fix these problems which limits a farmer’s ability to
invest into their farm’s future to increase productivity and decrease risks associated
with their crops but also to invest into their families in areas such as
education, healthcare, training, etc.

This is important to investigate because:

In agriculture, researchers actively seek to discover procedures that will increase
livestock and crop yields, improve farmland productivity, reduce loss due to disease
and insects, develop more efficient equipment, and increase overall food quality.
Researchers look for ways to increase farmers’ profits and to protect the
environment.Since many of the new technologies, inputs, and techniques of
production that increase agricultural productivity are developed through agricultural
research. Another importance is the use of it to make calculated predictions or guesses
to find out market trends for agricultural produces which in turn will help the farmer
plan well and maximize profits.

Theology
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord

Romans 5:8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10: 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved.

Romans 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved.

-Sins comes in different ways. It is up to us on how we ask for forgiveness to

these sins. These verses reminds us that we are all sinners and by the name of
God sins could be forgiven. No one is safe from sin, just like in Romans
3:23 which says ”For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.
Only Jesus Christ is close from achieving the “Glory of God”, in order to be
saved is to be with Christ. The wages of sin is death according to Romans 6:23
but if we have Christ is our hearts we could attain eternal life. Jesus Christ paid
for our sins in order for us to be saved but sinners continues to be sinners.
Which is very sad if we think about the sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus Christ.
But God is ever forgiving even though we are still sinners we could accept our
sins and ask God for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness is about accepting the
sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and live the life of a good follower of God.

Activity 1.
Football and soccer could be considered as recreational activities since it is a
good exercise and physical. It could be played on vacant times since their are
fields we can use to play these games. Some fields are on a huge area with
tress surrounding it which is stress relieving. You can welcome strangers to
play with you since these games needs more people that will give you more
chance to meet different people. It will be fun and recreational.

The outdoor activity that I want to try is white water rafting because it looks
exciting and fun. There is a white water rafting resort in Iligan city which is the
Villagracia Whitewater raft resort at Narra, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte. I could go
with my friends to give us more time with each other to relieve the stress and
have fun .

For me the principle of leave no trace principle is the Principle 3: Dispose of

Waste Properly. We could see images of waste being left behind by people
visiting a particular nature spot. Just like the image above which was captured
from a trail of Mt. Apo. People seems forgetting their manners when visiting
these sites.

What I have learned?

1. Technology is about innovation and invention which makes people’s life

easier. People have been depending on technology ever since humans learn
how to create things. From the basic/traditional technologies up to the digital
technologies it is all about giving us comfort and making our work/production
easier. People gets confused that technology is about the digital things that
we have now, but in fact technology is all around us. All we can use to help us
minimize work is technology.

2. Asa part of the so called “Gen Z” which we are being tagged to technology
and the internet. Online platforms are accessible which gives us more insight
about the world and the things we could do in the future. On the internet we
could obtain ideas about the occupations that we like and weigh the positive
and negative things about it. It will help us on our decisions which will go
down to our choice of track. As they all say, it is about practicality over your
dreams.
