VRL COURIER SERVICE
They offer Courier services for time sensitive documents and packages. Presently, our Courier
offering is available within the State of Karnataka. Certain major out-of-Kamataka locations are

being serviced through tie-ups with other operators. Our Courier business is operated in 109
towns and cities. Apart from catering to walk-in customers, we also pick up commercial
documents and packages directly from customers and deliver these to their assigned destination in

service in relation to mail and letters. Our service offering in this vertical includes: time-certain

General Parcel forms the core of VRL's business and involves pan Indian movement of
consignments of varying size and weight across the country on a Less than Truck Load (LTL)
godown to godown Basis. The Company also provides the option of door collection and door
delivery to the customers at a cost. The Priority Cargo business involves door-to-door delivery.
VRL offers its goods transportation services across 22 States and, 5 Union Territories covering all
major cities and towns in India. VRL has its exclusive offices across 553 towns and cities in India.
Operations in this division are conducted through a network of 929 branches and franchisees. We
differentiate ourselves from other service providers through our wide service network, as well as
our ability to provide door-to-door services through company-owned vehicles. We provide our
customers with billing, collection, load tracking, pick-up and delivery services. Operating through
owned vehicles enables safest possible movement for consignments with lowest incidences of
theft, pilferage, damage, etc.

FULL TRUCK LOAD
They provide FTL service to our customers by leveraging our broad base of select branches as
well as through our network of independent brokerage agents. They provide door-to door FTL
service to our customers, in which the goods are loaded on to our vehicle at the premises of the
customer and then delivered to the specified destination. This service is typically used by

manufacturers that have large quantities of goods to be transported and is offered at a pre -
determined price. In general, we provide FTL services to utilization of our vehicles or to those
customers who offer attractive margins. They maintain our network of independent brokerage
agents that have partnered with us for a number of years. Brokerage agents complement our
network
of our branches by widening access to customers requiring such FTL service.

LESS THAN FULL TRUCK LOAD


Less than full truck load service is categorised into two categories parcel and express cargo under
less than full truck load the customers do not hire the entire truck.

VRL Delivery Branch


In this section goods are delivered; party goods are stocked in the godown and after receiving
relevant documents goods are delivered to consignee. Three notice on regular interval are sent on
failure to take delivery of goods by consignee then the goods are transferred to unclaimed goods
godown and then sold in action with the notice to the consignee.

Door delivery: In this VRL itself takes the risk to deliver the goods at the door of the
consigner.

Godown/office delivery: The consignee has to come down to godown or office to collect his
consignments.
The waybill consists of:

Consignor’s copy: A person who send goods will handle this (Booking party).

Consignor copy contains:

• Name and address of consignor

• Value of consignments
• No of articles
• Charges
• Weight of parcel or document

Consignee’s copy: The copy given to the receiver of goods.

Working of delivery office:


The goods collected at different booking office are to be transported are all bought to the
transhipment point. These goods are then separated, sorted and according to the destination in
which they are to be sent.
Working process of delivery:
• When the goods are received from the booking office, they are divided into two ways
1. Door delivery goods
2. Office/godown delivery goods
• Door delivery goods will be delivered by the office to the consignee
• Office delivery goods, the consignee has to come down to the office/godown to collect
his/her goods
• The delivery of the goods also depends on the nature of the payment, if the payment is
already made then its very easy to deliver the goods, as the delivery is made immediately
after collecting the consignee’s copy, but in case of goods in regard of which the payment
has not been received, the goods are delivered only after cash is received from consignee.
• In this case a receipt is acknowledging the payment the consignee’s seal and signature is
taken behind the copy of the receipt as a proof. On delivery the name of the person taking
delivery, quality and LR no is recorded for future references
• The delivery office stores the goods for free for a maximum period of 15 days. After this
period a notice is sent to consignee to collect his goods, if fails another notice is sent after
60 days. A last notice is sent after 90 days. If he fails to do so again the goods are sold
and the amount is adjusted. But in case if goods are collected after first or second notice
the demurrage or storage charges will collected.
NOTE: Storage charges will be collected based on the charge weight of the goods and the

space occupied by the goods.

3. Delivery: Delivering of goods to the consigned party.


4. CR (Cash Receipt): Goods will be delivered after the proper billing process.

13.Consignment: consignment is a business arrangement in which a business, also
referred to as a consignee, agrees to pay a seller, or consignor, for merchandise
after the item sells.
14. Consignor: The consignor is the sender of goods
15. Consignee: The consignee is the receiver of the goods
16.Hamali: Money charged or paid for the carriage of burdens or parcels by a porter.
17. Freight: Goods transported in bulk by truck, train, ship, or aircraft
18. Turnover: The amount of money taken by a business in a particular period.
19.Door delivery: The delivery of products from the seller's warehouse to the point
of delivery, i.e., to the end customer.
20.Office/godown delivery: The consignee has to come and collect the goods from
the office/godown.
21.Carriers risk: explains that all risks are bome by the transporter while in
transportation.
22. Owner risk: Makes the transporter unliable from all risk.
23.Customer care: parties can contact to customer care number and can know the
status of their parcel or goods.
24.Eway Bill: E-way bill is a document required to be carried by a person in charge
of the conveyance carrying any consignment of goods of value exceeding Rs
50,000 as mandated by the Government in terms of Rule 138, Section 68 of the
Goods and Services Tax Act. E-way bill is generated from the Eway bill system
by the registered taxpayer (having a valid GSTIN) or

25. transporters (registered or unregistered). An E-way bill needs to be


generated before the commencement of movement of goods or
consignment.
26. Re-direct: If the consignor has booked to the wrong destination, then that goods
can be re-directed to correct destination by adding additional charges.
27. Demurrage/storage charges: 15 days’ time to collect the goods. After 15 days
automatically storage charges start adding in the cash receipt. If the consignee
didn’t collect the goods.
Note: storage charges will be collected based on the charge weight of the goods.
28. Notice: Notice will be sent to the consignee through post after 75 days from
unloading date to collect the goods.

MATERIAL HANDING EQUIPMENT’S USED IN VRL


1) Hydraulic trolley: Hydraulic trolley is used by the labours to transfer the goods from one place to
another place. Here, the goods are kept on the pallet and then with the help of the trolley they
can lift that pallet to move the goods. This can lift goods of 3 to 4 tonnes.

2) Pallet: Pallet is used to keep the materials, which is then lifted to move more goods at time. It
can be lifted by both hydraulic trolley and fore clip.

3) Handle vehicle: Handle vehicle can lift up to 2 tonnes which will be pushed or pulled by labours
to move the goods.

4) Fore clip: This is used to lift the goods and move from one place to another place. This can lift 5
to 6 tonne weight.

5) Bike cage: Bike cage is used to transport the bike.

6) Crane: crane is used to load the goods of large quantity and huge weight. All the major hubs are
provided with cranes.
