1 Find the new forms: emphatic do / does / did
Complete these sentences from the text on page 16 in your book.

1. One shouldn’t be jealous, I know; but I that way.

2. I know the work day never goes by fast enough for some people, but time

quickly when you work in a shop which is full of young people!

3. Oh, I how it feels to end up with less money than you expected!

2 Find the rule


a) Look at the sentences in Ex. 1 again and complete the rule.

(1) are sometimes used with the (2) in

positive sentences to emphasise a feeling, agreement or disagreement. They can also be used in polite

requests.

b) Write the examples.

Standard form With do / does / did for general emphasis
