Course Outline (Math 2041)
Course description: This course covers differential and integrals calculus of functions of
several variables and their applications, sequences, series, power series, fourier series and
orthogonality of functions.
Course objectives
On completion of the course successful students will be able to:
- find domain and range of a function of several variables,
- understand functions of several variables,
- find partial derivatives,
- apply partial derivatives,
- find directional derivatives and gradients,
- use tangent plane approximation,
- evaluate double and triple integrals,
- change rectangular coordinate systems to polar, cylindrical and spherical coordinate
systems,
- apply different coordinate systems to evaluate multiple integrals,
- find limit of a wide class of sequences,
- decide on convergence or divergence of a wide class of series,
- find radius of convergence of a power series,
- find the limit of convergent power series,
- represent a wide class of functions by a Taylor’s series,
- apply Taylor’s polynomial,
Assessment method

- Final examination 50%
