Subject/Grade Topic
First grade Stars and constellations
ESS1-1-1. Use observations of the sun, moon, and stars to describe patterns
that can be predicted.
• Further Explanation: Examples of patterns could include that the sun and
moon appear to rise in one part of the sky, move across the sky, and
set; and stars other than our sun are visible at night but not during the day.
• Content Limit: Assessment of star patterns is limited to stars being seen at
night and not during the day.

Reflection/evaluation
(after lesson is taught put your reflections here)
Students were very engaged in activities. They loved listening about stars and
constellation when listening to Pebble Go and reading Night Sky. Students did a
great job and creating their own constellation by connecting the stars together.
Students then wrote about their constellation and were able to give the
constellation a name of their choice. They were also asked to identify what kind
of shape their constellation made. Some students do struggle with writing so I
had to help them with that.
