For an integrated type immobiliser system, the transponder key ECU is integrated into the ECM.
Direct communication exists between the key coil amplifier and ECM.
Separate Type Immobiliser System
IMO IMI
ECM
B123641E02
For a separate type immobiliser system, a separate transponder key ECU (often called an
immobiliser ECU)* is between the key coil amplifier and ECM. The ECM receives permission or
prohibition signals through the EFII and EFIO terminal.
For details about different models, please refer to the table described in "KEY CODE
REGISTRATION TABLE" on page 4.

HINT:
• This is a system to automatically register a new transponder key code (master key code and
sub-key code) when the ECU (in case of integrated type immobiliser system, ECM and
incase of separated type immobiliser system, transponder key ECU) is replaced.
• In the automatic registration mode, the transponder key code can be registered for up to 3
keys. The last registration (the third or fourth key) is performed in the sub-key registration
mode.
• After the automatic registration, on some models it may take approximately 30 minutes to
match the communication ID between the transponder key ECU and the ECM.

• If the key code registration has failed in automatic key code registration mode, code 2-1 will
be output from the security indicator. Trying to re-register an already registered key will
cause code 2-2 to be output when the key is inserted. If the number of registered key codes
exceeds the limit, code 2-3* will be output from the security indicator. The output details are
shown below.
