Types of Curtain
Before measuring your curtains' width and length for your windows, choose first the
appropriate type of curtain to sew. Below are some of the types by Home Stratosphere (n.d.).
1. Panel Pair
Panel pair curtains feature two separate curtain panels. This type
of curtain is popular in classic and contemporary styles. With a
panel pair, you place a curtain on either side of the window. To
close these curtains, you’d pull each panel together.
2. Single Panel
With a single panel curtain, one panel covers the entire window.
The panel can be pulled to either side to open, and it can be tied
back to create a modern, asymmetrical look. These types of
curtains are popular in
modern and casual styles.

2. Measure length from curtain track to either window sill, bottom of apron, or floor (See
Image 3). Add 6” for a double 3” bottom hem (See link below on How to do the Double
folded hems) and 5” for a standard gathered heading.

Note
Disregard the measurements
mentioned; follow the
measurement you have above.
For the measurement of the
header of the heading of your
curtain, you can use ½-1”.
