Case Study

This document discusses improper waste segregation in the Philippines. It notes that the country generates over 43,000 tons of garbage daily, much of which is improperly disposed of. This causes environmental problems like air and land pollution. The study aims to educate local communities about proper waste sorting and alternative disposal methods. It recommends disseminating information, encouraging daily cleanups, seeking help from the government and NGOs, and implementing strict waste policies to properly address the issue.

In Partial Fulfillment
of the Requirements
in NSTP1

Background of the Study

Trash is the main issue on the planet for different of reasons and negative
effects that it brings. The primary issue with trash is inappropriate garbage removal,
this method of garbage removal can prompt various sicknesses particularly
respiratory maladies, for example, asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. Consuming
garbage bin be additionally risky if not been directed, fire can spread and consume
close by trees, wood houses and can hurt creatures. This method of removal
contributes such a great amount in overall referred to an unnatural weather change
as consuming waste prompts air contamination since ozone harming substances
have been delivered. This circumstance right now obvious in the entire world, these
issues ought to be overseen on the grounds that these reason a worldwide
temperature alteration what's more, environmental change that can hurt the
individuals of group of people yet to come.

The problem that the issue creates is in the contamination in air and land. In
where the issues in air contamination are consuming of wastes that can results in
delivering an excessive amount of ozone harming substances noticeable all around
that can undoubtedly crush the layers of the environment, second is the issue in land
contamination on the off chance that we don't have a sound soil that can be utilized
for planting plants or trees because of the synthetic substances that previously
executed the richness of the dirt because of the destructive synthetics that originates
from the trash's the world will experience the ill effects of lacking of separated soil.
With this two related issue that may occur in the network will endure regarding our
essential wellspring of pay which is cultivating. Since, in such a case that the
environment is dirtied the farming area will be influenced too. While in the lacking of
live soil or fruitful soil the ranchers in the network will have issues to develop their
plants on the grounds that there are no more soils to be plant on because of unsafe
synthetics that murdered the dirt.

The overall goal of the investigation is straightforward, it is for the local barangays to
know how to appropriately arrange their trash, to discover elective courses in taking
out their trash. This investigation fundamentally centers around how the acts of the
individuals in the network can profoundly influence, our temperament as well as their
wellbeing.

Proper Waste Disposal

As mentioned by (Philstar, 2019) the country generates an estimated43,684

tons of garbage daily, including 4,609 tons of plastic waste. The entirety of this are a
result of inappropriate removal offices furnished by the specialists joined with plain
indiscipline with respect to people in general, trash accumulates, advances toward
the ocean and either wind up obstructing coastlines or get inevitably sucked up by
sea flows to frame these gigantic trash patches. Most of the waste generated by the
Philippines consists of single-use plastics – a product of our “sachet” or “tingi”
culture.

Mismanagement of waste creates serious environmental effects, in

connection to this Republic Act (RA) 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste
Management Act of 2000 helps to protect the environment. The law was made due
to the never-ending problem of the country on waste disposal.

Ill-advised garbage removal and the expanding measure of junk/trash

created are one of the serious issues looked by individuals in our locale as well as in
the entire world. Issues on inappropriate garbage removal have caused different
issues, for example, obstructed waste or channels, flooding and sicknesses.
Henceforth, there is a requirement for individuals to discover ways on the most
proficient method to address these issues since it is our obligation to ensure our
current circumstance. One of these ways is to apply the 3R – Reduce, Reuse and
Recycle

The problem is evident in the entire world, over the years people are being
committed to the cause of removing this garbage, however the change is still far
from existing.
Methods/Action applied to mitigate and solve the problem

After all the information, I have come up with a very basic method in solving
this problem but is very effective.

First: Information Dissemination

Nothing beats an informed resident. It is important to make people aware of the

problems around them and make them informed as well of the problem that will
affect them in the future.

 Conduct scheduled monthly workshops, seminars or symposiums and ensure

everybody in local barangay are actively present

 Hand out flyers/ informative posters to aid residents in knowing what should
be done

Second: Apply Proper Waste Segregation

 After knowing it is important to apply what was learned, encourage families to

make cleaning a daily habit for them to live in a clean community far from both
land and air pollution.

 Conduct scheduled monthly clean up to local places to encourage people on

helping out

Third: Seek Help from Local Government and NGO’s

 A lot of people as well as organizations are willing to help, seek them and
together create a change that will help the current and future generations.

 Ask government for stronger policies regarding waste disposal, encourage

local government to help on this cause.
Conclusion

With all the information and solutions presented, the problem hopefully will
soon be better. While garbage will always be present nothing is wrong with being
proper and clean, it is for the safety of our children, parents, friends and family. As a
nation we should be committed t this cause for it will bring great harm if we continue
to disregard mother nature. Together let us create a generation void of indiscipline
and negative attitudes, let us promote proper segregation.

Recommendation

It is important to appreciate small steps such as creation of proper waste

disposals such as compost pits for local residents, proper information dissemination.
But I believe that to make a much bigger impact it is the government that should take
action, they should implement much comprehensive, strict and systematic policies
with regards to this and finally give the important our nature deserves.
