Yr 2 With Dates Project-Proposal-Guidance-And-Template-Extended-Diploma-In-Creative-Media

Luke Elliott proposes an after effects animation project for his Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. He will create a 2-3 minute advertisement for a Japanese horror manga. Research will include Japanese advertisements, horror manga stills, and after effects camera techniques. The project will allow Luke to improve his editing skills in Adobe After Effects, which could lead to paid work. He will track progress through weekly blog posts, feedback from online creators, and multiple project saves. Peer and teacher feedback will ensure the project stays focused on his chosen genre.

Section 1: Rationale
(approx. 150 words)
The Reason I choose after effects and animation works is because my strong suit is
in software and developing editing technique. It’s also a good chance to gain
experience in work that I could be potentially paid for in the future.

Over the last 2 years I’ve developed sufficient experience in creative software’s such
as: Premier, Audition, After Effects and Photoshop. With these skills combined I can
look into niche concepts and techniques inspired by internet culture and explore
them, improving my overall skill as an editor and heightening my value.

Section 2: Project
Concept
(approx. 200 words) For my project concept I’m creating a foreign Advertisement for a Japanese Horror
manga. This advert will be about 2-3 mins and is prioritised to be used on
YouTube/Any other social media.

Research Required – Horror Manga, Japanese ads, stills animation

Skills required – After effects camera techniques, 3d keyframing, animatic

animation/keyframing, visual effects

Resources needed – High quality stills form a Japanese horror manga, YouTube
editing tutorials, camera techniques/knowledge on lenses

Page 3
Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 150 words) For my evaluation I will be writing up weekly on Weebly with recent improvements to
keep track of how my work is evolving, alongside talking to online content creators to
get feedback on post production renders. I will be creating and keeping multiple
saves of my Adobe project file so that I can take photos of my sequence, allowing me
to keep on track with my progression. Online content from my chosen niche will be
used to cross reference with my own and take inspiration from. This mixed with my
sharing of rough cuts to my peers and teachers for feedback will be great for keeping
track and staying true to my chosen genre of work.

Proposed Research
