South Iraq Operational Geology Chart, MAHMOUD JASSIM2012

This document provides information on the stratigraphic column and formations in southern Iraq, including lithological descriptions and criteria for identifying formation tops. It describes the Dibdiba Formation as composed mainly of sand/gravel with minor limestone, marl, gypsum and claystone. Drilling mud weights of 65-67 ppc are recommended. The Lower Fars Formation is then described as composed of marl and limestone with minor sandstone, anhydrite and claystone. It notes the Lower Fars contains heavy oil reserves. Drilling hazards like caving and plastic movement are also mentioned.

area based on the TVD (true vertical depth) for each formation and Structure Geology for each area.

* The values for both ( Estimated Fm. Pore Pressure & Recommended Drilling Mud Weight ) are a Minimum & Maximum Values for each Formation.

* Casing points & Average TVD formations thickness are based on drilled wells in surrounding area.

* Average TVD formations thickness could be change in the same area based on structure geology of the area also the Formations could be thick in one direction & thin in the other
direction.
