SUBJECT: NEW ROUTING OF THE WIRE HARNESS FOR THE
ENGINE RELAYS

DESCRIPTION

The information in this Service Bulletin advises of the improved routing of the wire harness to the engine relays. This
action reduces the risk of short circuits resulting from the chafing of the wires against the relay mounting plate.

To overcome this concern, CASE CONSTRUCTION introduced a revised routing for the engine relay wiring harness.

The new routing for the engine relay wiring harness is effective from product identification number: HBZN865HMAF0
8618 onward.

Unit preparation
NOTE:

WARNING
Avoid injury!
Before you start any work on the unit, prepare the unit according to the following instructions.
Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.

1. Thoroughly clean the area on the unit that pertains to the service instructions for this Service Bulletin.
2. Park the unit on a hard, level surface.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Completely lower any attachments to the ground.
5. Shut down the engine.
6. Relieve all of the hydraulic system pressure.
7. Remove the ignition key.
8. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
9. Follow any specific instructions that pertain to the unit within the service instructions as necessary.

Service instruction
Follow the below Steps to apply the new routing to the
engine relay harness:
1. Open the engine cover.
2. Remove the securing bolt from the battery tray. Swing
out the battery tray to allow access to the engine relay
cover (1) .

3. Remove the three bolts (2) from the top of the engine
relay cover.
4. Remove the engine relay cover.

5. Check all the wiring to make sure that there are no
signs of damage due to chafing.
6. Repair any damaged wiring and/or replace the cables
if needed.
NOTE: Contact CNHi product support for further as-
sistance.

To re-route the wiring harness:


7. Remove the existing clamp (3) .
NOTE: Be careful not to cut any wires in the wiring
harness.

8. Fix the new clip 47757680 (4) into the existing hole
on the relay plate, as Figures 6 and 7 depict.
9. Pass a wire tie 75201641 (5) through clip (4) .

10. 6. Group together the wires from Step 7 with wire tie
75201641 (5) .
NOTE: Be careful to not damage the wires by over-
tightening the wire tie.
11. Cut the excess length from the wire tie.

12. Install a 325  mm length of rubber protective strip


75260568 (6) to the right-hand and bottom edge of
the relay plate, as Figure 8 depicts.

13. At the right-hand side of relay plate, remove the ex-


isting upper P-clamp, as Figure 9 depicts.
NOTE: Make sure that the wiring harness is not dam-
aged in this area. Repair the wiring harness if neces-
sary.

14. Remove the two wire ties (7) from the wiring harness.

15. Remove the bolt (8) from the relay panel.

16. Install the new clamp 70927175 (9) onto the wiring
harness, behind the relay plate, routing the harness
inside the new "P" Clamp. Fix the clamp Ref. D to-
gether the Bolt indicated previously removed.
17. Use the bolt (8) to attach the new clamp (9) onto
the relay board.

18. Install a new clip 84362927 (10) the hole located
behind starter motor, as Figure 13 depicts.
19. Pass a wire tie 75201641 (5) through clip (10) .
20. Locate the wire harness into the wire tie. Tighten the
wire tie.
NOTE: Be careful to not damage the wires by over-
tightening the wire tie.
21. Cut the excess length from the wire tie.

22. Make sure that the wiring harness follows the path a
s the dotted red line in Figure 14 depicts.

23. Re-attach the branch of the wiring harness removed


in Step 14 using four wire ties 75201641 (5) , as
Figure 15 depicts.
