Amazon Product Hunting 101

Lectures By: Okasha Hafeez, Hameer Ali, Zeeshan Jalil,

Compiled By: Fawad ul Amin
Because Yes, We need to search a product to sell on Amazon
So where do we find a product?
We can find it on Amazon, Alibaba, Daraz
But the most preferable would be to find it on Amazon
Why?
Because we sell, what’s already selling and
has good DEMAND on Amazon.
Like, why should we do experiment given our limited investment.
Objective: To find a product, that has good demand but has low or
medium competition.

However, big investors can go for a product with good competition as

they have the money backup to compete with established sellers.
So, how do we evaluate that a product is in good demand?
Obviously, we evaluate how the top sellers dealing in that product are
doing. Right?

Thus to evaluate, we need Analysis.

And since Amazon is a number business that means we have DATA to
analyze.

And we all know that to analyze DATA, we need TOOLS, Right?

What Tools?
1. Merchant Words (Recommended)
2. Jungle Scout (Wajib)
3. Helium 10 (Wajib)
Where can we get them?
You can get them all in one place on a monthly subscription for $32.
Here’s the link for your ease.
https://myamztools.com/#plan

Note: You can buy individual subscription as well directly from the
websites of these tools. That’s totally on you.
So the question is what’s the key role of each tool?
Nice Question! Let’s discuss that in detail.
But before that we need to understand
KEYWORD!

Amazon is a digital platform and like Google, people search on it for

products using keywords.

So KEYWORD is the most important asset here.

If you know your keywords well, you’re on the right track.

Keyword Formations!
• There are 4 basic formations.

Broad ONE WORD e.g. BAG

Specific 2 Words e.g. TRAVEL BAG
Short Tail 2 or 3 Words e.g. TRAVEL LEATHER BAG
Long Tail 4,5,6 words e.g. BLACK TRAVEL BAG FOR MEN

However, we mostly consider 2 tailed and 3 tailed keywords.

Types of Keywords:
There are usually 2 types of keywords:

1. Main Keyword or Primary Keyword

2. Supporting Keyword or Secondary Keyword

Remember, we first need to carefully know the main keyword of the

product we are targeting.
So how can I get to know what’s the main
keyword?

That’s usually hidden somewhere in product listing’s title.

This is how a title looks like and our main keyword is usually
somewhere in the tile. Take a closer look. In this case, it has got to be
“Moisturizing Lotion”
Some other examples of Listing titles
Usefulness of Each Tool
Merchant Words!

Merchant word helps you in finding the right keywords by sharing with
you keyword search volumes.

Yes, Keyword search volumes tell us about the demand of a keyword

and it’s related products.

For example: If the keyword garlic press has a lot of search volume that
means, people are looking for it. It’s in demand on Amazon.
Thus we get our main keyword from the title.

But wait, how to we verify if the keyword we think is main, actually

main?

That’s where Merchant word will help us.

MW will give us it’s search volume plus it’s related keywords as well.
MW Keyword Selection Criteria

Keyword Search volume should be greater than 50,000 for UK

Keyword Search volume should be greater than 1,00,000 for US

Once you know your main keyword and it’s related keywords. It’s time
to analyze further using JUNGLE SCOUT!
JUNGLE SCOUT!

The core offering of JS is that it tells you the SALES DATA of other
sellers i.e. your soon to be competitors.

You type your main keyword on Amazon and run JS tool.

Amazon page.

Helium 10
Helps us to validate the demand of a product plus gives an insight into
the competition we are going to face.

Basically helps in getting to know the following 3 core things;

1. Search Volumes (Demand parameter)

2. Competing Products (Competition Parameter)
3. CPR-8 Day Giveaways (Competition Parameter)
Decision Criteria for Helium 10 analysis

Parameter For UK Market For US Market
