Experiment No.02
Familiarization with the oscilloscope and Proteus software
Objective:
Introduction to oscilloscope and PROTEUS software and perform three tasks on PROTEUS and
one on oscilloscope in contact with function generator
Oscilloscope:
An oscilloscope is a laboratory instrument commonly used to display and analyze the waveform
of electronic signals. In effect, the device draws a graph of the instantaneous signal voltage as a
function of time.
It is used to measure the frequency of signal, measure the voltage, the current and the behavior of
a signal. Oscilloscope have an auto set or preset button that sets up the controls in one step to
accommodate a signal 10x probe.
PROTEUS Software:
It is a software that is used to draw electrical and electronic circuits and to check their
simulation. It also provides us the layout for PCB design of electrical and electronics circuits.
The results obtained by using PROTEUS software in performing different tasks are:-
Task no.1
This task is to build a circuit with one resistance and three diodes operated by AC biasing, and
check it at Frequency=2HZ, 5HZ, 50HZ & V=4v.
Procedure:
1. First of all we run PROTEUS and open work window which is in between blue lines.
2. After that we click on arrow and take our required component which come in a window
than we took them into work space by double space.
4. After circuit patching we click run button and check its simulation
5. When it run properly, we click on oscilloscope icon and view the wave forms of circuit as
shown in fig.

Output:
Task no.2
This task is to build a circuit with two diodes operated by AC biasing, connect a circuit checking
screen to view results and check it at V=2v & f=1HZ
Procedure:

Task no.3
This task is to build a circuit with one switch, one resister and three diodes one of them diode is
(FN1007) operated by DC biasing and check its characteristics curve
Output:
Task no. 4
4. Repeat all of the above with varying amplitudes and observe and measure on oscilloscope
