Business Ethics Group Assignment

Harassment manifests in Pakistani society in many contexts where women are vulnerable. Women face harassment regularly in markets, small shops and businesses, offices, universities, parks, streets, and while using public transportation. Even educated places like universities are not safe for women. Harassment can include unwanted physical contact, isolating people, commenting on appearances or disabilities, and jokes about someone's identity. While laws against harassment exist, awareness is still lacking. More needs to be done through seminars to educate women on how to handle harassment and report it so they can feel safer and progress can be made for society.

Question - What is harassment? In what contextual environement does women harassment

manifest in the society of Pakistan.

Harassment can be improper comments about, ethnic root, incapacity, age, etc. – both overt
and covert – about an person individual or bunch of individuals that they interpret as negative
Any act can be considered harassment, in any case of whether there's deliberation on the part
of the perpetrator. It doesn't matter if harassment happens due to obliviousness or
misconception. The victim chooses whether the behaviour is unwelcome. In this manner, be
delicate to others
Harassment is used to undermine power or for individual pleasure. Harassment cases that hit
the headlines are ordinarily of a sexual or racial nature, but anybody who is seen as diverse
can be annoyed at work
Harassment can be in many form:
● Commenting or making jokes about someone's disabilities.
● Making someone feel inferior because they belong to the minority group
● Unnecessary physical touching or assaulting
● Isolating someone because of their ethnic group, race, colour, disabilities and age
● Commenting on someone's physical appearance.

As we all know that women empowerment and gender equality plays a vital role in the
progress of a socitey but still Pakistan is a male dominant socitey where women have to face
a lot of problems especially working women because they have to interact with alot of new
faces on regular basis. If we specify that women in pakistan are harras only on certain places
than it's wrong. The women in markets are harrased on regular basis and the women who
owns small shops or businesses have to face same issue. If we take this situation to a place
where all people are highly educated but still women are not safe over there, i'm talking about
offices and universities where women have to face the same bad situation and sometimes the
women who don't know how to tackle these situations have to sacrifice there career which is
an alarming situation for Pakistan and its citizens because it will directly effect the progress
of the socitey. Similarly we have heard that many women have to face online harrasment and
in some cases the only option left for victim is suicide which isn't acceptable at any basis.
Women in parks or walking in streets and sometimes at community events have to face same
situation. Travelling via public transport is a major issue for women in Pakistan because they

have to face numerous harrasment acts. There are laws present for such cases for instance the
prevention of electronic crime act are present for online harrasment and similarly other
departments like federal investigation department which are present to take actions against
such acts but what we are lacking is awareness on such a sensitive issue. Seminars should be
conducted to aware women how to tackle situations like these and what immediate action
they have to take to be on safe side and where to report such stuff.
