A Detailed Lesson Plan in Collection of Data

The document outlines a lesson plan on data gathering methods for practical research. It discusses quantitative research designs, sample description, instrument development, data collection procedures such as surveys, interviews and observation. It also provides guidelines for writing the research methodology. The lesson plan aims to teach learners how to plan data collection procedures. It includes sample activities where students conduct interviews to gather primary data on financial obligations and a sample interview guide on the effectiveness of distance learning.

A Detailed Lesson Plan Practical Research 2

(Data Gathering Methods)

I. Content: Understanding Data and Ways to Systematically

Collect Data

II. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the

following:
quantitative research designs;
description of sample;
instrument development;
description of intervention (if applicable);
data collection and analysis procedures such as survey, interview, and observation; and
guidelines in writing research methodology

III. Performance Standard:

The learner is able to: describe adequately quantitative
research designs, sample, instrument used,
intervention (if applicable), data analysis and collection
procedure.

IV. Learning Competency: The learner is able to plan data collection procedure.
CS_RS12-IIa-c-5

V. Learning Objectives During the session, the learner shall be able to plan
data collection procedures.

VI. Topic: Data Collection

VII. MATERIALS: Laptop, Projector, Power point Presentation, Book,

Paper, Board, Chalk

IX. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS' ACTIVITY

A. Preparatory Activities
 Routine Activities
Let us all stand and pray. Prayer leader, (The students will pray.)
please lead the prayer.

Good morning, Class! Good morning, Ma’am!

Before we start our discussion please pick ( the students will pick up the
up the pieces of paper under your chair pieces of paper and arrange their
then arrange your chairs silently. And also chairs silently)
please keep all the things unrelated in our
subject.

Monitor, who are absent for today? (Monitor will check the
attendance)
B. Motivation

Before we start our discussion, let us first

talk about how you fulfill your financial
obligations to your family.

Who among you here are single?

How about those who have their own (student’s answer)
families?

For those single men and ladies here, how

many percent of your salary are you (student’s answer)
sharing to your family(estimate).

For family men or women here, how may

percent of your salary are you sharing to (student’s answer)
your spouses?

All right, I’ am sure that if not almost, all

of you here have financial obligations. Yes ma’am.
Either you are giving 50% or 100% of your
salary to your family.

C. Lesson Proper:
I. Activity

Groupings: (students will be grouped

The class will be divided into two groups. according to the instruction)
Each group will be having a
leader/researcher to collect the desired
data. Since we’re talking about financial
obligations here,5 minutes will be given to
each researcher to complete the table
below by asking their classmate whether
single or with family of their own. Also,
ask them the percent estimate of their
salary that is given to their family.

Name of Single Percent

Respondent or With Estimate
s Family of the
S- salary
Single that goes
F- to the
Family family
Erica F 50%
(students will actively do the
activity)

II. Analysis
1. Based from the activity, how did the
researcher collected the data needed in
the table? The researcher/leader collected
the data using interviews.
2. Therefore, how do you define data
collection? Data collection is defined as the
procedure of collecting, measuring
and analyzing accurate insights
for research using standard
validated techniques.
3. Are the data collected from the activity,
primary or secondary data? Explain why? The data collected are considered
primary data because we used
interview in order to complete the
table.
4. How do you define primary data?
Secondary data? Primary data are data collected
directly from the resources.

Secondary data are data that has

already been collected through
primary sources and made readily
available for researchers to use for
their own research.

5. What are examples of primary and

secondary data? Primary data comes from survey,
(pictures of primary or secondary data) interviews, questionnaires, tests,
observation checklists and rating
scales.

Secondary data comes from

information found in journals,
books, annual reports, websites,
and other publications available
for public use.
III. Abstraction:

1. What is data collection?

Data collection is defined as the

procedure of collecting, measuring
and analyzing accurate insights
for research using standard
2. What are the two different methods of validated techniques.
gathering information?
Primary data collection and
Secondary data collection
