Digital Portfolio Project Handout

April-June 2021

We’ll spend the rest of the year in this class working on developing our Digital Portfolios!
By the time you leave 9th grade, you will have a beautiful, personalized portfolio that beautifully
exhibits your best work.

Essential Questions:
★ How can we beautifully compile and showcase our work from this year?
★ How can we let our personality and individuality shine through our portfolios?

Project Flow:
➔ Publish project summaries, reflections, and embedded work on your DP
➔ After academic content is posted, launch into your passion project- spend class time
researching/creating something of your choice!
➔ Present DP in your final POL
➔ Finish 9th grade!

Along the way we’ll learn:


❖ Revision Techniques (in class)
❖ Grammar (NoRedInk on Mondays)
❖ Webpage creation skills (in class)
❖ Media creation skills (from peers, in class. Sign up to teach a skill here!)

Final Product Expectations:


❏ A functioning, published Digital Portfolio that includes:
❏ At least 2 project summaries & thoughtful reflections for each class
❏ About me page
❏ Passion project page
❏ DP is easily navigable, includes thoughtful reflections, work embedded, no grammatical
errors, and your own personal touch
❏ Detailed expectations can be found on this checklist

Tentative Project Timeline:


➢ Week 1: Project launch/ Q&A/ DP Exploration/ Passion Project Intro
➢ Week 2: Collectively write project summaries
➢ Week 3: Humanities project reflections writing workshop
➢ Week 4: Math project reflections writing workshop
➢ Week 5: Physics project reflections writing workshop
➢ Week 6: Multimedia project reflections writing workshop
➢ Week 7: Peer critique/polishing
➢ Week 8: Passion Project/DP help
➢ Week 9: Passion Project/DP help
➢ Week 10: POL Prep!

*If you finish posting all of your academic content early, you can launch into your passion project
early!
Passion Project
Once you finish posting your academic work to your DP, you
can use class time to work on a Passion Project of your
choice. Maybe you want to dive deeper into one of your
weekly commitments from the year. Maybe you want to learn
something totally new. It’s totally up to you!
1.) Watch this video to learn more about Passion Projects (also called Genius Hour)
2.) Fill out this form to make a project plan
3.) Use class time to learn about whatever it is you want to learn about or create!
4.) Post on your DP
